    Amsoil ATF

Hi, i have been reading about this stuff, it sounds very good and am thinknig of using it in my v6 galant.

i want to know, if this stuff is very good why short interval changes compared to Mitsubishis ones? Mitsubishi one can last up to 54,000 miles before tehy recommend u chance it but with this Amsoil ATF only 30,000 before it needs changes. Why short interval change?

No, it can't. That's the problem.

As for how long amsoil lasts... no one quite knows yet as no one has had to replace it. Any recommendation of 30k is a conservative guess, but I would suggest it will last longer than that.

Correct. And it's inadequate and leads to an unecessarily high failure rate.

Most car companies only care about the car up until it's warranty period is over after that point why do they care is the g'box fails just means more money for them .

Now the hard point Yes AMSoil will last longer than standard stuff but as Isaac has stated no one really knows how long it will last , best just to change it and monitor the colour , feel of how it changes gear etc - but do not be supprised if you only change it once every couple of years .

I would be stunned if *Any* Galant, whatever flavour could manage a 54K ATF interval without the fluid being so degraded it would have had a detrimental impact on the life of the transmission.

Compromised Gearbox cooling and an over-long ATF interval is one of the reasons these 'boxes get panned so much!

Yes they will do ATF; basicly if its still red and all works fine then leave it in. Whilst I wouldn't be staggered if the Amsoil ATF did 100,000 miles there are so many variables such as , how much of the old fluid was still in there what it was, whats the wear in the clutch pack, hows the internal filter doing, how much thrashing/ stipping/tracking/towing etc you do gearbox milage etc etc etc that it would be impossible to say a figure.
Bottom line is the car will run much smoother and its very much cheaper than a gearbox.
If you have a problem with getting Amsoil just contact me on 07949 944523 email don@performanceoilsltd.co.uk or web at http://www.performanceoilsltd.co.uk/

Is there a chance that Amsoil ATF can go wrong once put in the car?

The oil can't go wrong? The gearbox still could.

    The oil can wear out.

IMHO the gearbox and oil will last longer and perform better with Amsoil.

Not really. Yes, technically Amsoil ATF can be toasted in extreme circumstances, just like any other fluid.... However, several members have shown that Amsoil ATF remains stable at temperatures that put the gearbox into 'limp home' mode - so I wouldn't worry!

One day all the surviving VR4's will run like this..... just think about it.
