    Question Fast Getaways

Just reading Beastlee's thread in the general area, made me wonder how to get the fastest start with the Tiptronic box. When I worked in the motor industry in the dim and distant, the fastest way of starting an auto, was to hold the car on the footbrake and at the same time floor the throttle. This would take the unit to what was known as 'stall torque' and the revs would hold at about 2000. To launch it was just a case of taking foot of brake and keep the right foot pressed to the floor.
So, does stall torque still exist for our tiptronic boxes and does anyone have any tips for rapid getaways?

This is the method most people here use for 1/4 mile racing here. Although some will say "pah 2000 rpm... what a wuss! Get it up to 3500 if your foot is man enough to stop it lurching forward!"

Yep, that's still the way to do it. Stall speed of the VR-4's T/C seems to be between ~2600-3000 rpm.

However it's quite a load on your transmission.

in a VR-4 you can get it up to about 2500rpm if you really want to stand on the brake. defo the best way to launch

Your clutch plates or the driveshafts - That's what I've seen go BANG the most at santa Pod when a launch goes all wrong!
