Good race. Proud of the old girl

I the sea of ' thinking of selling my vr4' threads, and I've been a part of them myself, thought I'd big mine up and my reasons for keeping.
Bought 2 years ago (97 coty tiptronic legnum), it's not only taken me to and on Donnington, but has towed a track car there, done countless biking weekends, family (5 of us with bikes) trips, work duties with sometimes heavy tools. Usual daily driving is never dull and always gets more attention than an automatic 19 year old Estate car should get. Then last night, on my private dual carriageway, I spy a civic type r racing a megane 225 cup. So thought I'd join them. Sadly I wasn't able to use the legnums mega off the line launch as I had to set off behind them. But it happily sat behind them on the straights and caught them on the bends. We had a right good blast then flashed our lights and went our separate ways. What a machine just hours before it was full of bikes and kit. Amazing.
Thought I'd share this as a positive thread for those thinking of selling. Just think what's gonna replace such an all round machine.
    Cheers
    Danny

    Thanks for sharing

I bought a V6 N/A Galant estate in 2007. Fell in love with the car, but the moment I discovered there was a more powerful version available that became my dream car. Dream came true 2015 and it's a treat! The autobox is the best you can get unless you are willing to spend 10x the money.
The more you know, the faster you can go. And I still don't know enough.

I give up searching for replacement, now I'm thinking of getting Volvo xc90 and trailer for track prepared car, some clio, type r or similar. Legnum will stay as a toy, and need to arrange @giblet to come over with his isF and see how its run for its money against VR4 on my private dual carriageway.

I'm having issues with traction but once I get going I'm sure I'll give you a run for your money.

That will all depend on how legal the footage is

A friend of mine has a go pro that I can borrow for it though.

I saw that adaxo said private carriageway which is why i asked. But it's all good tho. I'm sure it'll be a great run.

I figured that after I posted my comment and after giblet talked about how legal the footage will be. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm sure it'll be a very nice run when it happens. Be safe guys

I tried going for it from complete standstill last weekend and just sat there spinning up the rears for a while before I got any grip. It was damp and cold at the time though. It's not like I have budget tyres either, Goodyear Eagle F1s on the rear.

My mate who owned an EP3 Type R has recently changed to an 08 Impreza STi hatchback with the Prodrive pack that takes it to 330bhp. Now that thing is quick regardless of weather conditions! Will see if I can get him to come along.

Best place for this would be Santa pod or Elvington? Then it's a nice secure place. Either way let me know and I'll try and come along. Recon your legnums faster than mine Adam, but I'd like to get out with you all at some point.
I've had the big power and rwd,in real world driving conditions, it just can't cut it with 4wd. My old 300zx had 450bhp and the legnum would keep with it on a launch to 60 ish. On a dry rolling start though the legnum was nowhere near. Would like to get mine on a rolling road to see how well it's running.
    Cheers

The US guys just make sure no identifiable road / location signs are in view and post up a text in video saying "Somewhere in Mexico". For us "Somewhere in Germany" may work just as well ;-)

Mate of mine has a Focus RS stage 4 mods 400hp, it is pointless for him to try a launch from the line it is just to difficult to get the correct balance of power and tracktion. even when he is on the move it will spin the front wheel if he plants his foot to the flow, particularly in the wet. and e has good tyres on as well. so i think he has just given up trying.

you dont really appreciate how good the 4wd system is until you dont have it any more.

this is probably the reason the new RS is 4wd.

    Bye for Now!

Had a nice run with my aformentioned Impreza owning mate today. Dry warm weather which helped me, from a standing start it is a close call. I managed to out drag him on both occasions but he still getting used to the clutch and gearbox. A run against Adam's VR4 will be fun!
