    Blower Recall

Can anyone shed some light on the mysterious blower recall for me? I believe it's due to a loom possibly fraying, I'm chasing having it done but was wondering what the ill-effects were. My a/c doesn;t work so I want to eliminate the recall before I have that fixed too.
    Cheers

My one is going in shortly and the dealer mentioned a resistor being replaced but not the loom

Yeah all they do is replace a resistor.... what a shame!

I thought this was the one where the blower connector can get pulled out by peoples feet pushing against it. Worst case scenario is the short catches fire and the car becomes carbon.....

I can confirm that the recall is merely to replace a resistor, a half hour job by all accounts. Had mine done yesterday, everything work as before (so aircon is still bust!).

Does the heater controls work? I had the facia off mine to fit a new radio and a hose seemed to pop out from behind the twisty knob that is used to adjust the heat...apparently if that disconnects the A/C stops working...it might be that this hose has popped off...you'd need to remove the facia to confirm this though...

Yes the heater controls do work, I can get hot air no problems, but not cold. When I had my stereo fitted I asked the guy to take a quick look (he's an air-con specialist) and there was gas and pressure in the system but it wont turn on, so it looks to be an electrical fault, but there wasn't time to fix it that day. It's going back in 5 weeks to be looked at again, so I will update then on how it goes.

Like Dick says, it sounds like the sensor behind the dash is disconnected. This would mean it pumps hot air and wont recognise that it should be cold.

Look for the small slatted vent, then remove the trim panel and see if the wire to the sensor is connected.

I had this problem after fitting the mapecu , all it was that the flap that controls the flow of the air had become stuck in the cold position . This unit is just above the ceu's so maybe the installed has placed something in that area and it has jammed .

Just removed the pasenger side cowling and have a look just above ecu are , there is a white plastic box thing there so just chjeck the control levers move freely

    Cheers John
