    Curtain RT7..easter 2008

Ok... I'll start the ball rolling.

Who's up for our 7th trip to the green hell?

I'm pretty sure I can name half a dozen 'regulars' who will be going..... but it would also be nice to get a few more of you along for the ride !!

It simply is one of the best weekends/weeks/holidays you can have. I'm determined to take my car this time, so If any 'newbies' to the nurburg want to tag along, just ask.

Driving the ring is an experience not to be missed [ apparently ? ] but for those of you concerned about the cost of the trip..... come as a passenger, like I have ! It can be done on a budget.

    THE LIST ! ;

    2] H7 + Lorna
    3] HJM
    4] Jimbo

    6] The Vee

    8] Simon & Claire
    9] Timiano - going seperately

If I was looking at this thread, which I am not, ... I would be wondering if they do buy now, pay 2009 ... !!!

Would absolutely love to do another trip in Easter but I just can't see it happening with the wedding on the horizon for August next year.

LOL folks, might just be easier if you called it "Ring Trip.....drum roll....Easter 2008". My [completely sane] thoughts on the matter:

[Drunken northern b'stard accent] Well it's my 7th bloody trip and I started these bloody flippin' things so I think that gives me the bloody holy right to call it whatever bloomin bloody trip number I flamin' bloody well flippin' want to [/Drunken northern b'stard accent]

    Ok maybe this:

[Scorned ex-member accent] Ah, who cares what "official" number trip this is - how many of them have been "official" CVR4 events anyway? I tried as much as I could to get them to be in the dim and distant past once I picked up ChrisG's exhausted baton for getting VR4 driver's to experience the wonders of the Nordschleife, but look where it's landed me....a grumpy non-member driving an old Dats.probably best to stay away from me, I might bite you all. [/Scorned ex-member accent]

    Errm, ok. Maybe this:

[Not drunk at all, honest] Yay another Ring trip, oh goody. Please come everbody, the Nuremburgring is lovely and costs virtually nothing to get there. Come, come, come, come, come. [/Not drunk at all, honest]

Anyway....in all seriousness: "Nurburgring Easter 2008" - desperately hope to see all the old regulars there, we've had a great laugh in the past and I don't see this time being any different. Love to see some new faces, I'm sure we can all help you with ferries/hotels/etc if you fancy a trip over with us.....besides, I need as many witnesses as I can get for the monster Supra shafting I have in mind

Is Easter really the best time? I haven't been to the Ring on the Easter weekend, but I recall reading that it's absolutely chockers with cars and track time is limited accordingly. Ferries are likely to be more expensive, hotels harder to find (unless we're booking now!). Would it not be better to go on a weekend either side of Easter, or away from Easter altogether?

    Just a thought ...

    Definitely up for it, btw

The sensible answer is yes, probably BUT at Easter the Ring is open for four full days (which doesn't happen at any other time during the year) and you can pretty much guarantee it now, whereas we will need to wait for next years calendar to come out to book any other time (traditionally February, although it was early this year). It is an adventure just being there at Easter - it is mayhem on the Friday and Saturday but tends to calm down a bit on the Sunday and Monday and exotica there is just incredible. If you are only going to go once, then Easter needs to be experienced IMO.

This (if we go) will be our 4th Easter and we swore we wouldn't go again after the first one but we have got better at doing it and now spend the first few days doing other things and get a few laps in either early or late. Monday is usually a great day, as most of the Brits have either crashed or gone home Staying in Nurburg helps, 'cos you can avoid parking at the track, which is bedlam.

Ferries don't seem that much dearer (we have never paid more than £75) and we usually book in October time, so hotels aren't an issue - Derek even managed to get one last minute last year, didn't you Derek

The bank holidays around Easter mean that we don't have to use so much annual leave either - have I convinced you yet

As Jane said.... not a lot of choice really. true, it's very busy.... but that adds to the fun of it. plenty of atmosphere & partying !
IMHO, track time is not the problem.... It's parking.
Can I add you to the list then Brian ?? oh...... & I'll make sure I bring my fart machine again, to save Lorna any further embarresment.

Can someone give me a rough rundown of the costs involved for two people + a Legnum? Jimbo did send me a breakdown but I've deleted it since and can't remember!

    How much we talkin' here?
