    Kieran, rough costs are:-

Ferry, max £100 (usually about £75, but inflation and all that)
Hotels, 5 nights at 80 euros per night so about £250
Fuel, well just the return trip is about 1000 miles for us!
Track, 19 euros for single laps, cheaper in multiples - then fuel on top
Food/Drink, prices vary but generally cheaper than here - £50 per day?
Other, who knows? Just remember, crash on the Ring and it could cost you anything!!

I reckon two (sensible) people could do it for £800 to £1,000 - it costs us a LOT more

It is a 5/6 day holiday though, so I don't think its that bad but maybe I am just numb to it!

I have read people doing it for £500 but I don't know how? Maybe they are running cars that do 60 mpg? If I am wrong, I am sure that someone will correct me.

I budget around £1500 for two people, but we're further away

£ 30 Fuel from home to Newcastle and return
£380 Ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam and Return
£100 Fuel from Amsterdam to Ring and return
    £250 Five nights' accommodation
£200 Ring passes for the weekend
    £100 Fuel on the Ring
    £250 Food & drink
    £200 Other incidentals, souvenirs, etc.

Makes no odds whether we take the ferry form Newcastle or drive to Kent and take a Channel crossing - both work out at around £400 but the ferry is much more relaxing!

I budget around £1200 for 2 of us, or about £800 on my own.

The best thing is to figure out what your own personal spending is likely to be, and then add a little in reserve. It's 290 miles from Calais (to figure out fuel), and as said it's about £50 a night for a double room. So if you keep your laps minimal, keep away from the legendary bar tabs that the US-crew pile up, and don't eat Steak every night...a couple could theoretically do a 5-night trip for about £650..ish?....but as Jane says, I just don't see how this is possible and still get the most out of the experience. In my opinion it needs to be treated as a special holiday if you're going to go at all, and you can't just do a couple of laps, stay sober, and live off salad. Also remember that the whole experience becomes awfully addictive - you simply just can't go the once, it's physically and emotionally impossible!

Yeah I think we're going to need to book fairly soon. Hotels are pretty much too each his/her own. In recent times the majority of us have gone to the Pitlane (or Ringhaus as I think it's called) as we've developed a pretty good bond with the owner ("Freddy") by now and the build is really new, modern and clean.

I know Andy and Pete prefer the Motorsport a couple hundred yards up the road which is also a great hotel (breakfast is better here in my opinion), but a less than warm experience with their owner has put me off staying there as a preference, but it's certainly still a great place...and we usually all end up there most nights anyway!

I'm sure Jane (aka Derek and Jimbo's much adored "social secretary" ) will post up details for us to subscribe to soon.

Crikey....only just got back from the place and already we're booking the next trip, but it's a 6 month wait.....it's just fair - I want it to be Easter tomorrow!!!

It would be if we all booked up in time to get in/take over the same hotel. My choice is the pit lane. . . . & the motorsport for eating & drinking

There was still snow in March 2006 - as evidenced here: http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthr...t=13500&page=2

    Agree with the sentiments Jane

It would be a bummer to get nearby and not even be able to get to Nurburg though due to snow, especially for any newbies (if any go). You roll your dice sometimes in life.

Easter this year (April) I was worried there would be some wet days as it was the first trip with the Supra - what happens 6 bone dry days

So lets be positive - there's always the other activities, like indoor karting at the F1 circuit (drifting those karts was ) But watch out for some dirty driving (James !!! He use to be such a polite, well behaved chappy til he got that Chavson Myline )
