    BHP ECU Tweak ?

    Guys

On the info section it states that the pre-1998 auto's are 260BHP standard not 280BHP as there was an ECU tweak done at this time.

Therefore, is it possible to have the ECU on the pre-1998 Auto's tweaked to achieve the 280BHP ?

-LegnumVR4- replaced his earlier ECU with a later model ECU to get the 20bhp gain - see here

Yeah saw that before, but don't really want to go to the expense of buying another ECU when there is nothing wrong with the one I have INSERT INTO post VALUES (except the 20bhp difference); just wanted to know if my existing one can be tweaked ?

    Cheers

I doubt it, as it will have a fixed IC circuit in it and mass produced for these cars.
I could be wrong, but either it would cost a few quid to have different information stored onto it.

If you're going to do it, you may as well go for an upgradeable one whereby it can be tuned many times to suit various states of modification.
They aren't cheap either, I've seen Blitz make them..

Well i was just thinking that u could get in contact with some guy in Japan to ask the after market sellers for the old ECU's that they have after the owners upgrade to the after market models. Should get them cheap?

I didn't know this. I always assumed my 1997 VR4 tiptronic had 280BHP and not 260BHP. Would be interested in cheap post 1998 ECU if there are any?
