    54000 mile service

I think my dealer has started to take the pi55! 2 months after an £800 service they want another £400 to service it again........its starting to tempt me to do it all myself! :wow:

The only problem is the AYC fluid change, I think this is the main part of the service anyway!

The cost was only INSERT INTO post VALUES (ONLY??! :wtf: ) £281.63, a breakdown is as follows:

    Labour 2.5 hours £143.75
    Oil drain plug gasket £0.54
    Oil filter £6.66
    Petrol additive  £9.90
    Environmental charge £3.00
    Service Kits £3.90
    AYC Oil 1.7 litres £12.75
    Castrol SLX 0W-30 4.5 litres £54.45
    Screenwash £1.82
    Brake Cleaner £2.92

    VAT £41.94
    Total £281.63

Advice on minor leak on gearbox transfer case, and rear shock absorbers INSERT INTO post VALUES (they recommended changing them last time but I pressure washed all of the oil off!) and no sh1t my tyres are wearing!

All in all not too bad I guess

Not worried about the shocks.....the transfer box leak concerns me slightly, but it is not losing much. I will wait until my arms and legs have filled back up with blood before doing anything rash like going back to the dealers!!!

If the slight leak on your transfer box is coming from the seal INSERT INTO post VALUES ( I noticed a small weep on mine at the weekend as I changed the oil in the transfer box) then I can recommend a product called 'oyltite' stick. Essentially just a sort of hard resin wax crayon that is rubbed along the seal flange forcing itself into any voids in the sealing, they're used on aircraft INSERT INTO post VALUES (funny how I got mine for free, eh?); so are well up to spec for small leaks on our 'boxes.

I Used one on my weep and has sealed it up fine. The original sealing material is a sort of white mastic and I remember dislodging a small chunk the last time I was under the car giving everything a good wipe over, oops :$ , so the leak was probably due to excessive cleaning......watch out Kieran!!
