Not going to panic at this stage, but certainly need to follow this.

Oh good - that should get some tarts of the circuit then (Pete, Simon, Paul etc.)
Looks like me and Jimbo are in for a good time
Lot to be said for standard

I've been reading up about this on Pistonheads track day forum, general consensus from regular Ring vistors seems to be, as long as your car is UK legal, you now may need to show MOT, and as long as the car 'looks' safe, you should be fine.
it seems they've been turning rough looking cars away for a while now anyway, they're just trying to make it more official.
But your car isn't standard either?!Originally Posted by HJM

Yeah, it's probably just the backbox, but I think even those are subject to TVU approval - if the info is true, they could get narcy about that too!
And you're forgetting about the nut behind the steering wheel too!
There goes the Supra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Originally Posted by stuey
its like its always been....dont rev the nuts off the car while sat at the barriers. We've seen a clapped out cortina with no brakes and a cossie engine, thats the type of car they will keep away. Or that RX7 with scaffolding as an exhaust!
Worse case... me and paul have to unscrew our roll cages..
still looking forward to going.
There is no allowing for that, unfortunately!!Originally Posted by Kieran
Seriously though, as the sad internet lurker that I am, I've been following this story for a while now on various forums and as has already been said, the general consensus is if your car doesn't look too outrageous, you don't act like a tit in the car park or the queue and its not too loud, you won't even get noticed.
There seems to have been a clampdown this year on 'boy racers' (for want of a better word) and I have to say that it would seem that British plated jap cars don't have a great reputation out there. I have read all sorts of stories including police being called by marshals just because they didn't like the way someone was driving.
Its always been a scary place, not just because of the potential of being hurt, but the fact that you can end up with a massive bill, be banned from using the track and even prosecuted BUT from what I am told, its worth all of that for the experience of driving it - which is why I intend to have a go, weather permitting, on our next trip

lol Andy. You car does look fairly standard though, and I bet if you weren't an 8G expert, you wouldn't be able to tell anyway.
And I think it may be to get rid of the cars that have wood planks fastened to the boot lid as a rear wing
Def the sort of car to be turned away!!
