As heavy as a heavy thing on a heavy day.

Two person lifting job. I managed to get it out of the car and into the container by myself, but it's going to be a bugger to fiddle accurately.

GTROK suggestion is to suspend it from a rope through the gearstick hole in the car - bar across the hole, rope around the bar and hang the box from that. Supports one end and makes it easier to adjust the other end.

I need to look into how complicated it is to separate the transfer box - there's nothing wrong with the one on the car. I suspect it won't make things any easier though (lots of bolts around the top).

Once again, if you girlies think it's going to be too much of a handful, I'll get MGT to do it. I'll just have to explain to my poor children why they can't have any Christmas presents ...

Are you 'ard enough ? (Well, I know Steve isn't, but we just have to keep him away from the matches and make sure there are fresh sheep...)

Berninator! Wow, impressive job you've got lined up there (oo, a pun).

I'd be very interested to know what the extent of the synchro issues you have with your current box - is it all gears?

I'd been previously talked out of getting an S15 Silvia due to their gearboxes "being made out of chocolate", but it would seem like Skyline 'boxes don't fair all that well either given stuff I've heard from fellow owners - among others, Mr Jetslag has previously had his reconditioned to solve that syncro issue.

Ever since I got mine I've needed to be very careful with upchanges to 5th due to a distinct lack of meshy stuff around that gear. It's not caused any grief on track just yet (ability to do 140mph in 4th is handy!), but it's a PITA when you're cruising on the motorway and have to remember to drop the revs below 2.5K or match them perfectly.

Been tempted to line up a recon job in the new year, or like you maybe take a chance on a 2nd hand box. Ought to really pick your brains a bit....

Absolutely staggering how big they are though! It's all that cleverness with the Attessa 4WD I guess!
