I am selling my vr-4 2.0 4G63 Galant on Ebay. I am told it is very rare (by the importer who imported it 11 years ago). I would like to know how rare it actually is. I am also selling 2 spares or repairs galants (GTI and GLI).

I don't know how rare, but it is certainly rare!
Were the 1988 models 4WS? I thought that was a 7g thing - didn't realise it was on the 6g.
They are popular in the states, but you don't see many in the UK.
The top of the range 6th generation Galants in the UK were the GTi 4WD-4WS, and came with suspension options where the driver could choose the setting they wanted whilst driving - sport, hard, etc... These models were 2.0 16v engines and were available in saloon and hatch (known as coupe)... They were available from 1988 onwards, when the hatch was launched, even though the 6th gen range was launched in 1987 (winning Japanese Car of the Year 1987).Originally Posted by Nick Mann
Below the GTi 4WD-4WS was the GTi - standard 2WD, without the suspension option and with the same 2.0 16v engine... This model was only available in saloon guise...
Then came the rest of the pack which were 2.0 GLSi (what my avatar is of my last car - STILL!!!! The one I had was a 1990 and I added front fogs and clear indicator lenses)... These were available in saloon and hatch, with a 2.0 8v engine and came as standard with the 'cladding' along the bottom of the doors like the GTi / 4WD-4WS had.
The Galants sold on the Isle of Man and Isle of Wight were 1.8 litre models. You could tell these apart from the GLSi models as the 1.8s had no cladding down the side, and black bumpers (the GLSi up were colour-coded as standard.
By the way - seen your cars on eBay - and love them! Lovely motors!Originally Posted by far2manycars
I would snap your hand off if I had managed to sell my VR4.
That car you have is
'07 Satin Black Shogun (Running), '98 Black Legnum VR4 Super (In Storage), '01 2.0 Silver Manual Galant Estate (Daily Driver), '98 Silver Colt (Dead), '97 Trigger Mauve Legnum VR4 Shell (Doner for Super)
Also in the family: '07 Mini Cooper, '05 2.0 Lancer Sport Estate
the 7G never had 4ws did it? i know that the 6G vr4 had it tho
That's right - after the 4wd-4ws spec on the 6th gen Galant, the 7th gen just retained 4wd because by this time the Lancer Evo had taken over from the 6th gen Galant as Mitsubishi's rally car.Originally Posted by Subaru ETA
I'm sure the 7G Galant 2.5 V6-24 4x4 had 4WS.... I'll check tonight.
I think kyou are right K, also there was a 2.0V6 Sport version of the 7G as well (I nearly bought one on a whim years ago), cant remeber if it was 4wd 4ws as well tho...Originally Posted by Kieran

7g 2.5?? never seen one for them here!
Yep - Confirmed, I'm looking at the page now.
7G flavour, hatchback only, 2.5V6 with 4WD and 4WS. Flagship car in the UK's 7G lineup.
In fact, there was one on Ebay a little while ago - see here:

HMmm so that must mean that my first galant... when i was 18..... was an isle of man car, omg i feel abused now.
hehehe! Not specifically imported for there alone - but the Isle of Man had cars without the cladding and colour coded bumpers, plus 1.8 engines which weren't available here....Originally Posted by Paul Beazer
At the time when I was looking for such Galants, all the ones that I found and were there had those features and three dealers said that was standard spec for there.
My dad used to have a 1990 AMG Galant. It had a huge AMG spoiler at the back and under the bonnet it said tuned by AMG on the cam cover. I wonder how rare that was? It was FWD and only had a 2.0L 16 valve NA engine, so not a VR-4 killer.
VERY rare!!!!!!!Originally Posted by Robotnik123

Search on here for AMG - you'll find a couple of threads talking about similar cars. Definitely a rare thing!
Nice to know I wasn't crazy thinking that 7g's were available with 4WS. Good to learn the 6g's had it too!
my mate had an amg galant. it was a quick car for what it was. at all the parts to make it turbo but we crashed it while racing a gsr or something. stupid things you do when you are young!
my parents had a 6G 1800cc galant. one of there fav cars! nz new one and manual. did you guys have the super saloon in the uk?
