A few of our cars have had these replaced....You can buy then cheap'ish but then you need to fit them! I went for the easy/expensive route and got Mitsu' to fit them both! £350+/- BUT dont reply on them realigning your wheels ...pay an extra £20 at your local tyre centre to check tracking! mine were out by 3-4mm.

Bah! The mighty GLS is perfect down to the nanometer! We're far more prescise!!! :-D

    Now, back to topic

What are the symptoms of the lower front wishbones wearing, anyone?...

It's not a kind of cracking/creaking sound under light breaking when turning the wheel between lock to lock is it?.... Mine's just started this crap. My CVs are OK before anyone suggests that...

To clarify... I think I may have the same problem as some of you VR-4 peeps... I'm not sure though...

They went on my V6. Sounds like the right symptoms.

    Nik77,

Front anti-roll bar bushes deformed: it happens over time - they take the stress of the transverse loading when you go round corners. Easy enough to replace as new ones won't affect geometry. Replace with standard rubber ones, or some people go for nylon bushes - longer-lasting, but less forgiving, therefore hardens up the ride.

Offside front drumstick: this is the track rod that connects from the end of the steering rack to the wheel hub (at the track-rod end). They wear over time and, in extreme cases, can pop out resulting in no steering  Easy enough to change, apart from the skinned knuckles (although often requires some brute force, or the correct tool ), to free the old ones. Change both at the same time, not just one side. Steering toe-in/out needs to be checked after replacement, as said, to ensure you don't scrub the tyres through incorrect alignment.

    Arse... :rolleyes5

Oh well, at least it's nothing more sinister... and sounds like it's not TOO much grief to fix.

Brian - you mention nylon Bushes. Know anywhere I can get hold of them... Can't see any on superflex or powerflex's website?

Don't know if nylon bushes are available for the Galant, Kieran. I know a few Impreza guys have installed them and I considered them when I had my Legacy RS but might be worth a call to Powerflex (or a Mitsubishi dealer) to ask whether the Evo bushes are the same as the Galant ones.
