    Front Wheel Bearing.

Having decided my front wheel bearings were no longer in tip-top shape, I decided to change them. Using Bernmc's article, I finally managed to get the first one done, destroying a few bolts and a hub puller on the way.....

But the point of this thread is to support and give credit to EdmundVR4 for his discovery and info in this thread.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a couple of Eclipse wheel hubs from the USofA. They arrived and are a perfect fit.....

Just to compare the new with the old....

The best bit about it is that I have been told that Stealerships charge £250 ish plus VAT each. Camskill charge £150 each. I got these for $99.99 the pair. So even with $98 shipping, it still only cost me £100 for a pair of hubs!

    Bobby Bargain!

I used Best Suspension on ebay, but I'm sure there are other options.

Good luck anyone who follows in my shoes. Removing the old rusty ones is MUCH harder than fitting the new ones, which is still harder than saving yourself a fortune.

There's positive news on the suspension front regarding Eclipse parts being interchangeable - I've alluded to this several times but now someone's bought some bushings and they look like a match. Fitting still to take place, but it's looking good so far!

As far as I was aware the Eclipse AWD and the Galant were built around the same platform, I'm sure it uses the same floor plan too and was a pseudo coupe version of the Galant.
I stand to be corrected but I was banking on this for seats etc.

I tried to buy direct from the US and was tld theywouldn't ship outside the US...then hung up on me...I called back andas told they wouldn't speak to me as I wasn't within the US...so great news that they fit and are a cheaper option, but you would need to find a supplier in the US that would be happy to ship outside the US...clearly Nick did - which suggests I need to start using Ebay!

There must be plenty of USA people that will?

I used an ebayer called bestsuspension nad whilst they didn't list postage to the UK, they were happy to quote and then send the goods when I asked via email and paid via paypal. No phones involved! Maybe suppliers trust the electronic money exchange more than a long distance phone call.

Am i right in thinking that the Front Wheel Bearings for the Galant/Legnum is the same as the EVO 4/5/6 ??

    Thats what i was thinking

So there would be a fair market for the bearings then

Would have been better if it would fit 7/8/9 as well

I know that you can ship your own for a Tad over a £100 from the US.. But is there a chance that you could get hit for custom charges on top of that ??

What would be a price that members would be happy to pay for a Hub and Bearing shipped to them straight from the UK ??

And having a 1yr unlimited mileage warranty on them as well

    Cheers

    WODJ

I didn't get hit for customs charges. But that could be luck of the draw. If it's within 20% of the import price to the UK, then I would buy from the UK.

So we are talking £60-65 area inc P+P..
Are the 1's from the US warranted ?
Also if there is an issue with them would u have to foot the bill for return shipping ?

Yes they are warranted, but I would imagine I would be footing the bill for shipping. That's why I said I'd be willing to look at up to 20% extra to keep the business at home.

To be honest - it doesn't matter what I think - I already have new ones!! I guess other input would be more useful.

    All input is good input

As you say Nick, it can be hit and miss with the Import tax and Vat

Also the speed of original shipping and exchange shipping times if they were UK based would be an important factor..

And the offer of free return shipping..
