    Invecs-II V Invecs-III

As we all know, the Galant was first to use this type of technology and just out of interest, technically what's the difference between Invecs 2 and 3?

    And also......

    1. Given that Invecs 3 was introduced in 2000 in the Lancer (and then much later in Colts/Grandis/Outlander etc.) why was this not used in the face lifted Galants?

    2. Does INVECS 3 in any way help eradicate the problems the Galant Automatics cars had? I know the underlying problem was the torque converter/drive shaft, but was interested to know if INVECS 3 corrects the problems faced with INVECS 2?

I would imagine that adapting the facelift galant to Invecs 3 wouldnt have been worth it given it only had about 3 years of production left in it. To retool for such a limited lifetime wouldnt really justify Mitsu doing this.
    No longer empty and frantic...

Invecs II was based on Porsche technology apparently, so not exactly the first to use it I suspect. Wasn't Invecs III used in some models of the Evo 8? I so, i'd hazard a guess that it does solve alot of the issues you've mentioned.

Invecs II is a gearbox control system, not the gearbox itself.

Invecs III is the equivalent control system for CVT.
It's been a crazy year, But through all the damage done,
I have turned and I have learned, To make next year a better one,
    Singing Oh Hallelujah,
    Singing Oh I am home.
