Really? Mine came into the country with them, I've never had a prob with WOF's etc either. I get people flashing their lights at me though hahaOriginally Posted by bradc

same in the uk with HIDS, you need auto leveling everything for hids, not sure if these rules apply toNZ though. but i highly doubt they will crack down on bright lights
.
I havn't had one single problem with mine and the only lights that a are HID for me are my low beam, the hight beam and spotlights are stilll a dull yellow. Plus I go to the LTNZ for my WOF. not saying your wrong but people just don't care about bright lights, or they think that you have really powerful bulbs from repco.Originally Posted by bradc
But I have been told to turn my spotlights off before on a different car, the thing was thou those lights just come on when you turn the main lights on.
But Yeah A bit off topic here, all in all we give to much personal power to the cops, so it's up to them how they feel about the "boyracer" issuse and many of them see you as an easy target, but is saying that if you car is too low, going too fast or fill to the brim with 15 year old girls without their seatbelts on the your need your car taken off you.
I only speed when i overtake, so i don't spend to much time on the wrong side of the road!!!!!
Guys that cant dress themselves properly shouldnt even be on the road... muppets. Nothing against the RX-7 though *whistles and looks up to the right*Originally Posted by Subaru ETA

haha we dont really get many rotary's other than RX8's through capital city but we did have 1 loud as bridgeported RX7 come through once and all the guys had to wear ear muffs cause it was so loud, another guy that use to work with us had a DX corolla with a 12A bridgeport and i'd say about 80% of the time the motor was on his bench...not in the car....those things blow like a...well u knowOriginally Posted by Subaru ETA
yea we usually just get flooded rx-8s but its dealing with the know it all young dudes that come in asking for advise...man i hate them lol
is that the "dont come to me when you have a question statement"? haha im kind of lookin forward to having you on the site actually haha. (oh and ive got the 7 now... BIG SMILE)Originally Posted by Subaru ETA
hahahahaha oh god tell me about it, those rx8's flood worse than a tropical storm, it's funny how if you just leave them for 2 weeks without starting them they just flood up, which is exactly why i never have and never will own a rotary, they make some HUGE as white smoke clouds when you clear the flood though, 1 of the guys did it inside our workshop and i swear to god...it was like WWF again and you'd think the Ultimate Warrior was gunna jump outta somewhere
I would very much like to own an Aussie V8 sometime in the future. An Falcon XR8, say a BA or BF, would not be good is that right?
i wouldnt, id buy a series 3 ts50 AU.
yeah us mazda guys used to get yelled at when we were fixing flooded ones for filling the workshop up with smoke when i was at the main branch with the ford guys!
J -MO - its all good, ask me what ever! its the dicks that ask you a question, but then think they know more then you!
last guy i had:
my rx7 has a oil leak, can you fix it? its from the crank seal..
me: o never really heard of them leaking from there...sure its not the front cover where they usually leak?
him: no i said it was from the crank seal!
this goes on for 20mins until my forman comes over and tells the guy that m right and he should book it in for us to check...
then the guy keeps going with the "o can you get rid of the speed cut? its real annoying when i try to show my gf how fast it goes"
"can you fit heaps of mazda speed stuff"
yup sure i said..we charge ove $100 an hour tho
"o, ok" and he leaves
he comes back a week later "what sort of oil should i put in it?"
i tell him, but then he decides to argue with me for half an hour about it!
just hate it when people who know nothing pretend they do
Any experience with the new FG yet? Is it any good? I doubt I'd get an AU now, too old.Originally Posted by Subaru ETA
not out yet - just looks like a BF facelift lol
the AUIII is a far better car then a BA. ford finally got it right, then went backwards with the BA. VR4DVL will back me up in saying this...ford have been around for 100 + years, BUT THEY STILL CANT BUILD A HANDBRAKE SYSTEM THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!
when i was working on fords my day consisted of -
brake shudder on BA and handbrake adjust.
next job - handbrake and brake shudder
next job - diff out
next - heads off boss engine for missfire...
I see. Perhaps it will be a Holden for me then. What I really would love is a Mustang Cobra SVT, but I guess RHD versions of those are rare and expensive.

The strange thing is that people who get a bad Ford or Holden often go and trade it in on another one...so go figure.
We've never had issues with any of our Holdens over the years, over probably 500,000km or more of driving. I think we've had one snapped power steering pump and thats about it
The V8's, especially the 6.0l's are very nice, or if you want something a bit different, get one of the V6 3.6l's with the manual gearbox and get a supercharger kit for it
that said rossco i have worked with people who have worked at holden and said they would take a commodoreanyday over a falcon.
they say that yes they do have problems, but you fix it once under warrenty and they are fine! unlike ford where you spend most of your ownership driving a loan car!
as for the Mustang Cobra SVT - look on trade me. my dad and i were looking last year at late model mustangs and there seemed to be heaps on there.
we are waiting for his mate to get back to use and we are just going to import a LHD one and convert it ourselves.
o yeah, if you want like a 2000 late 90's one tickford actually did factory conversions on them and there are heaps in oz
