De-cat pipe

As I missed getting a BDA special does anyone know where I can get a de-cat pipe for reasonable money?

I am still undecided whether to go for a de-cat or a high-flow. What is the price difference for the two? I suppose the benefit of the high-flow would be that I wouldn't have to keep putting it back on again for the MOT.

Changing the cat would be an alteration to the original spec so would you have to declare it on the insurance? If you had it changed and didn't declare it, could it make your insurance invalid?

A high flow cat is not going to be cheap!

As with all mods you would need to declare it to your insurance, I have done this by stating I have a full custom built stainless steel exhaust system. So if you go for a high flow you would still have to own up!

As for putting it back on to pass the MOT......well mine passed without doing this, others have not been so lucky.

Nick Mann managed to swap in my cat replacement in 15 mins, so its not really a big job.

High flow cats are available for next to nothing from the states these days. Try a search on e-bay & you'll be surprised just how cheap. Not too sure about the quality though.

I personally found de-catting my car made it too noisy. Although not my highest priority at the moment I will consider a high flow cat in the future. Not sure whether a de-cat pipe with a resonator would be sufficient.

Good info there Borgan.......however shipping from the US is not cheap, and you would still need to weld flanges on to suit (assuming it was the right length and would fit in the space left by the old one) The flanges alone cost me £25! It is an option, but I fear still an expensive one!
