rear end issue a wheel issue

as some of you may of read ive had a thud which sounds like a buggered CV joint coming from the back. yesterday i changed over to the facelift alloys, and the noise is mostly gone. still can be feintly heard, but its alot duller, in tone.
time to get the wheels balanced i think. all tyre pressures are at 36psi
    strange.

I run 32 at the front and 34 at the rear. Reading through in the past I would have thought 36 all round was a little harsh. Must admit though my fronts have always looked under inflated on any tyres on both the cars.

Manufacturer's recommendation is 32 front, 29 rear, but most people choose their own preference. Mine is 34 front, 32 rear for normal day-to-day running. I'll go as high as 40 all round (measured when cold) if on track.

Yes, forgive me, that is the right way round for my figures. I would edit my earlier post but it would confuse matters. Mine should read 34 front 32 rear.

You could try and clean the wheel / hub interface surfaces so they are nice and clean. Perhaps a thin film of copperslip on the hub surface too may help?

i found something really wierd with one of the bbs alloys i took off. one of the eagle F1s, has the wierdest tyre wear i have ever seen. it has 2 cuts parrarlel to each other, which are going the opposite way to the tread.

Any pics? If it was feathering I would suggest perhaps alignment was out.

for those wheels yes, i took them off because they are getting up to the wear bars, so i put the facelifts on which have lovely new tyres well newish.

looks to me like that rough drive you have been going up at 200mph has ruptured the carcass of the tyre causing the tread to bleb, which means they are no longer perfectly round.
