There are other sizes you could fit but im not sure on the width of the wheel. Get yourself a set of 8"wide 17's. I assume its to get rid of the horrendous flex in the sidewalls?

I totally agree that 17 or 18 inch look much better, however, check the cost differential between 16 inch and 17 or 18 - it's quite a lot, especially if you track the car and get through tyres like I used to.
the stock bbs wheels are 16x6" and 205/55/16's are the best option. Wider tyres will give you more roll in corners.
Best option is to upgrade to 17" wheels that are 7.5 or 8" wide, there are lots of options
