Puke Track Day this weekend. 12th April

    Yo guys,

I am heading out to Puke this weekend for a "test" day.

They call it a test day because you aren't actually meant to be racing the other cars on the track.

Its open to the public and costs $90 on the day. It runs from 10:30 till 4:30

I will be out in my car - but it would be much easier if i had some help.

I am thinking that i will need to take Gas cans, spare wheels, tools and lots of other stuff that i dont want in the car while i am racing.

So if anybody is keen to come down with me and maybe take turn about on the track while the other person looks after their stuff and does lap times - let me know!

    cheers - Andrew.

oh - i turn 30 on the 12th so its kinda a birthday pressie to myself.

I've got a set of slicks and 17's for my car, thats kinda why i need the support wagon, because i wont be able to drive to the track on the slicks.

unless i can change them at your place and leave them in your garage.

ok, got my set of semi-slicks confirmed, and hopefully wheels within a few hours. Sounds like it is going to be fun.

Richard - I'll be here all morning, feel free to turn up any time.

got whatever came with the brembo calipers, haven't changed them. I'm guessing they are stock mitsi pads. I intend to change them, this might hurry it along I'm expecting brake fade on the 3rd lap.

9am is fine, I'll pm you my addy

I picked up a Mintex "upgrade" from Race brakes. consists of high temp fluid and competition pads for front and rear.

The bedding in process is to go from 140kph to 40kph as fast as you can 12 times - and they didn't fade.

definitely will be helpful on that back straight when going from 220 to 60...

I grabbed uprated pads and fluid from Race Brakes before the last Taupo trackday (can't remember the brands, but I think it was Mintex) - they were fantastic on track, no fade all day. Only downside is they squeal a bit when braking at low speed.

Probably a good idea to let things cool down evenly too (take a gentle cooldown lap, don't jam on the handbrake when you stop, move a bit after you stop so the bit under the calipers cools too) - I tried to be careful about it at Taupo but obviously not enough as I still ended up warping the (standard) discs.
