    Hydraulic Lifters

I've just received a set of 24 lifters.

I noticed that one 'seemed' slightly shorter than the rest and so measured them all. The black sheep was 0.98mm shorter than all the others. As I'm not technical I was hunting on the internet to find out if it's significant or not. I haven't found an answer but perhaps someone on here will know. In the attached photo you will notice that this ONE lifter has:

    1] a different angled shamfer - 'A'

2] is shorter than all the other 23 in the set by 0.98mm - 'B' (EDIT - Ooops - just noticed it's the lower tappet that is shorter)

3] does NOT have the groove - 'C' (albeit I'm not sure it's a proper groove that all other 23 have)

In photo 2 you can see the larger 3mm ∅ holes in the top. However, not ONE of these has a 3mm hole - they all vary between approx 2.10mm and 2.90mm ∅.

Whereas this set seem solid and look good quality, I'm surprised at the variation in the sizes of holes, shamfers, length etc. They all have a logo printed on the side = 'LU' except the shorter one.

Some interesting reading at following link: (Not our engines but nevertheless relevant)

If it was just gonna be the length i was gonna say about 23 being pumped up and one having bled down, but it looks like a different tappet to me. They should be all the same.

    Cheers,

    Ben.
