ECU part number, part 2

Got my ECU part number from Ben at Eurospec,
MD359139

rang up a scrap yard to see if they got one......they have but it's not from the same year as my galant, they have one from a R reg 2.5 V6 Sport,

They also have another ECU from a Galant

Would the one from a R reg 2.5 V6 Sport work on my W reg 2.5 V6 Sport??

Can anyone on here find out if the two part numbers I gave is really from a R reg 2.5 V6 Sport, please.....pretty please!!......so I can sort out my Galant once and for all.....coz this 150 miles to a tank is killing my wallet!!!

There was no such thing as V6 Sport on an R-Plate. However that's not the main sticking point.

Mitsubishi changed the emissions gear on the later V6 models (sport or not) and also changed to OBD-II compatible ECUs in 2000, so I doubt a 1998 one would work. In fact, they also changed the harness at that time, so it might not even fit.

The MD76xxxx is a V6 ECU, but I can't identify the year.

I think the second one is for a 1998 as well going by some of the non UK sites

so does that mean both of them wont fit onto my car?

I got myself a ecu from a scrap yard, took it down Eurospec, got them to change it over fro me and the car won't turn over, put the old ecu back in and it fired up frist time.

rang the scrappy up and told them and they say that my key has a chip in it and the ecu they sent dont Recognise it thats why it dont work also they said I need to wipe the ecu clean so that the chip in the key will re-learn it.

Is this ture?????

My car is a Galant W reg 2.5 V6 Sport.
