Suppose the button could create a leak in the vacuum pipe and then tricks the turbo into running uber boost.

    Although I can't see it!

Anyways i'll be at the meet on Sunday so i'll have a looksie

    STOP!

No need to start taking photos and ripping your car to pieces Lee.

    That button is Normal.

The UK spec 8G Galant Autos have them. If you look at lee's car page, he's got a '99 V6-24. .

The Button's function is to facilitate a smoother driving experience on the UK cars. As you say... Tickle it and it will crawl, boot it and it will give full power and maybe drop a gear, Press the button (in my old 8G GLS, this was called the 'Engage GLS POWER' button) and it'll select the lowest gear possible and change into that.

I used to like it, because there were often times I wanted to quickly 'run up' a gear, but without lurching as the car kicked down. I do find myself wanting the same button in my VR-4.

i dont think my motor has a turbo! f**k i dont know, im just getting into cars goona take a while to catch up lol, thanks for all the advice, thanks Kieran im hoping it is standard, cant afford more on my policy! lol, it does seem to drop the gear pretty quick and fly off, the engine makes a sublime sound when that happens, there is a guy that uses the same garage as me in the mornings, he has what i think is a VR4 and we always give each other a nod, its cool when you meet a similar car owner and get a little respect! lol

Hang on !! Hang on !!!!

This quote "but foot down hard = face on the rear seats!"

This does not describe the acceleration of a NA V6

Can i ask what cars u are used to driving ??

Yep, quite a few owners have felt that the V6 24 is a fast car. Well, it is Lee ......... until you get in a VR4 and then you will appreciate the difference. However, it really is a good idea to start with the V6 24. This was an interesting thread - well done Kieran.

Bog standard silver VR4 except a decat pipe and quad exhaust outlets.
