Yep, she isn't as shiny as she could be, but then she does need some work to the body. In fact she isnt as shiny as she could be inside either
But does that bother me? NOPE!
She moves like a fighter jet on the road, and thats all that matters
Well, I'm off to give her a little TLC now. Gotta work out how to take the stereo out, give her a clean up inside and do the best I can on the outside.
And I need to change the thread name to '...is complete'
Congrats mate. Now.........ENJOY
Got the stereo out of the VR-4 now. Relatively easy job even though the stereo was bolted in behind the dash. The trim around the gearbox first then the dash pane and all is accessible.
Its started raining, well its like a tropical storm here! So I decided it wastimefor a spin in the wet. WOW. The car grips so GOOD! Almost undistinguishable from the dry! Plus was able to keep the windows open slightly cos the plastic thingies (technical term) over the window kept the rain out! So now I'm back in. Gonna get some lunch and head back out to take the stereo out of the GLS. Contemplating whether I should leave the GLS amplifier wiring in place and buy new for the VR-4 or strip the GLS and transfer it over. Two lots of work required the first way but a valuable £20odd the second way.
Either way, the new stereo is going in so I can play my music from my USB stick.
And yes, I know
Pictures soon... But you've seen the car in the'Widows Weekend' thread anyway.
Once you see how much grip it actually has in the dry, you will defo be able to tell the difference!Originally Posted by atikali2000
And plastic thingies = wind deflectors!
Keep enjoying - I know I am!

Why not become a full member of CVR4 and enjoy the additional benefits membership brings?! Information here.
I've pushed the car a little in the dry now and the grip is phenomenal. The power this car has is just brutal!Originally Posted by elnevio
I pulled out from a side street onto an overpassing dual carriageway. Had to cross over a bus lane, a single lane, a slip lane (onto and off the overpass) the outside lane of the over pass and then into the inside lane. I managed to pull in between two cars (who were both traveling at 50mph). In the GLS I wouldn't have dared that manoevre.
New stereo is in, but alas, the speakers are shot! Well, both drivers side front and rear are crackling at 8-10 out of 35 volume level. Gonna wait to fit the amplifier and do the door speakers at the same time.
Another thing I just spotted, but I doubt this is a standard fit on VR-4 is the strip of red LED lights on the side of the door. I know there are lights on the inside corner of the door for safety when you open the door, but these lights are a strip of red LED on the side profile edge of the door. Well cool!
Mental note - they are called wind deflectors! Thanks elnevio.
I need to make a new thread for "Newbie VR-4 appreciation"
Yep they are not standard, they were on the car when I got it, and I used to like them as well.Originally Posted by atikali2000

Oh yeah, Rich, the exhaust is flaming mental!!!! Loving it myself, but all my passengers so far have said it'd give them a headache after a while! Told them to get a lift off someone else next time!
Will the de-cat drop the noise level at all? Or is that just for emissions reasons?
I've driven the car for a total of 100 miles so far. Fuel guage at halfway point. Filling up again tonight for a round trip of 160 motorway miles. Looking to have a third of a tank left on the guage when I get back. That would satisfy me on fuel consumption.
Ummm...... Flaming being the objective word here Atik....Originally Posted by atikali2000
Get a friend to follow you on an open stretch of road and they can watch the flames. Just ask Heath, Jane ( the HJMs) on here or Jimbo. They followed us back from Donnington once and commented on the flames coming out the back.
I just wished I could have seen it for myself.
De cat was taken out for MOT purposes...
I don't think that it makes it any quieter
The accessory brochure just lists them in black so probably not.Originally Posted by atikali2000
Yeah, de-catting that system will potentially make it even louder - The cat's honeycomb has a slight silencing effect.
I like how Lilly said the decat was taken out, thats kind of like a double negative
She means to say the cat was put back in
OK, now I'm confuzzled! All your fault Brad
Newbie question alert...
For MOT purposes, I need to show a catalytic convertor in place and working? But once MOT is complete, I can take that bit out and fit the 'de-cat'?
So generally, which of the two setups will be quieter?
Aside from that, I'm still loving this car. 2nd fill up of fuel tonight. Couldn't do the round trip as posted earlier, M6 was closed as a result of the earlier fatal accident. Managed 139 miles from 30 litres of Total Excellium 97RON fuel. Put the good stuff in tonight, V-Power!
Yeah, you need a cat for a mot and you can remove it again afterwards. Without a cat will be louder.
So, the bit of pipe I got with the car (for use at MOT times) is the cat? If I fit that now, the exhaust will be a little quieter?
If you answer this Brad, you redeem yourself from the unnecessary confusion you caused
Atik de-cat is the pipe i gave you. you put that in to make it loader and rev quicker. The car is as it passed its mot.
The perfect man to answer my question! Thanks RichOriginally Posted by richy rich
Brad, you still in my bad books
