    Advice needed please

Hi, after 2 weeks of good driving with my new engine, its somehow gone and crapped itself again. Towed it to my mechanics and had a quick look. There was an usually loud sound coming from the lifters. Now my mechanicn thinks
the issue relates to oil pressure. He reckons the cause of all these issues is the adaptor for the oil temp and oil pressure gauges ( the plate that goes in between the engine and the oil filter ). Hes adamant that this piece of machinery is the cause of all my issues. Is he right? has anyone ever had any problems similar to this? Hes not a fan of aftermarket stuff, so when i give it to him he doesnt put it on. I stand by my view that the issue is related to the engine he got me but i need some advice........or maybes hes just right

    thanks

well the adapter could be a problem if it limits oil flow. What pressure does the engine run at when hot?

It would seem a bit strange if the engine was perfect for two weeks and then died, but obviously we don't know for sure. I have a spare engine here with perfect heads, in case you'd like to buy them?

Anything is possible, but so many people use those adaptors without any problems (myself included) that it would be very unusual for that to be the sole cause

Have you had any proper monitoring of your tune? I am guessing that you still have some extensive mods on this engine too?

Don, i have no idea how you tolerate all this bad ****, i would have pushed mine off a cliff by now if i had had 1/2 your issues

I would be inclined to take the engine to an independant builder, and get them to do a post mortem on it, at least then you might have an idea of where to start looking?

stop wasting money on it if your just gonna flick it, there not worth anything these days,

has the car ever been checked on a dyno since all these motors keep failing,
i doupt a sandwich plate would do any harm, lots of us use them...

and do you trust you mechanic?? i never have there all out to make a quick buck.

Don - tell him to pull the sump off and show you what comes out. if it has had a massive failure due to low oil pressure it would be full of metal bits

i use one of these sandwich plates and have no problems with it.

However i did check when i fitted it that the open areas of the snadwich plate goes over the open area where the oil enters/leaves the filter (not sure which way round it is), if you didn't then i suppose it could cause a restiction of sorts.

howevr there was no instuction to do this in the manual (sheet of paper) that came with it.

    Bye for Now!

I havent had the chance to go down and have a look at the damage but according to him there was no oil in the engine dew ot no pressure? Still reckons that it has something to do with the adoptor? is there such a thing as legnum specific adoptors or is it a case of one fits all?

    on multiple engines though?
unless the adaptor is in some way blocked I wouldn't think it was that. Many people have them and no one has had trouble that I know of.

Might pay to strip the engine down and check to see what it has to say

the thing is i have had the same engine problem with my 2 previous engines. Both times the seals in my bottom end had gone. He has opened it up already, and one of the cylinders seized up and the bottom end crapped itself due to no oil getting in there. Note that before this adoptor was put on the original engine i had no such issues, it wasnt until about 2 weeks after it was on that it crapped itself...... so im not really sure, if i was more mechanically minded then it would be alot easier to argue my case

sandwhich plates are usually pretty simple and it would be hard for it to do that sort of damage. Can you get a picture of it?

if the sandwich plate was cast poorly it could cause low oil pressure
