The two radiator supports at the bottom were removed and moved, the one on the passengers side was moved 12mm towards the driver and the one on the drivers side was moved 30mm towards the drivers side. One this was done the radiator fit into the holes at bottom perfectly.
At the top the support on the passengers side lined up perfectly, but on the drivers side it is off by about 10mm. I re-drilled the holes in the support and it fits fine. You can see that in one of the pics.
Apart from that, the pipes are the same size and the bottom water hose from the engine fits straight on in the exact same place, no problems at all. The top hose location is about 10cm over to the passenger side. I simply rotated the hose at the thermostat end around about 180 degrees so the kink in it was facing around the other way, and it mated up perfectly once rotated.
The radiator cap is different. The EVO one has a big fat base on it, the VR-4 one doesn't. Luckily my friend Bill at Ralliart had a 1.3 Bar cap designed for an EVO4-9 and it went on fine.
The hose for the overflow fits on fine, but the cap is further over to the passenger side and this makes the hose too short to route nicely. I will get a longer hose and run it along the side of the radiator and under the air con pipes in a few days time.
Now as for the performance - I don't know for sure yet. I went from 50-109.4kmh about 15 times down the road next to mine tonight and all I managed to do was make the brakes smell funny. The temp gauge didn't move. Next time I take the car out on the track I hope it won't overheat. More importantly, the new radiator is sexy and all shiney. It matches in with the rest of the engine bay well and it won't crack like the stupid plastic ones.
