    97 Legnum VR-4 Pricing

I have a Legnum I am considering selling. It is pretty much factory, is in great condition, has had regular servicing and has done 92 k (imported by Donnithorne Simms (Mitsi Chch) at @61 k). My reason for selling is that it is too small for 2 kids (in booster seats) and an adult in the back and it doesn't seem to be possible to get extra seats fitted in the boot (that are certified). How much can I realistically get for this privately?

I would expect 4500-6k. You could poss get more if you were able to wait till the right money comes up...

It sucks on the prices these cars are at atm..

Hmmm, I wonder if there would be any money to be made in buying unwanted NZ VR-4s and exporting them to the UK?

The price would depend on if it is a manual or auto and if anyone happens to want one at the moment, mine is for sale, but I have had very little intrest and am including my full sound system with it, mine has similar km to yours and is manual, with cambelt, water pump and clutch changed.

at the minute id say you would struggle to sell a vr4. if you are in no hurry trade me would be the way to go, but if you are after a quick sale, cutting your losses and trading it would be the way to go.

at my work we are getting HEAPS of 6 and 8 cylinder cars getting traded for mazda 2s (in fact there are no mz2s left in NZ!!!)

Thanks for the responses. Mine's a tippy so probably even less saleable. Will go and find out what it's worth on a trade. Am considering an ex-lease ~2005 Mondeo wagon (which you can add extra seats to for ~$3000). Apart from a Mazda 6 wagon (which you can't get extra seats for) I can't think of a car (as opposed to a people mover) that is efficient and non-embarassing as a replacement for the VR-4 (I know that performance wise everything is going to be a step down). I like the current shape Legacy but these hold their value much more than a Mondeo.

    trans always go pop
    fuel pumps alway fvck outs
waterpump and thermostat housing always slowly leak...and then its head off
    bad for water leaks....

Sounds like you speak from experience. The Mazda 6 would be my first choice but I don't believe you can source extra seats that fit in the boot for them. However I believe the 6 (and the Mondeo for that matter) have more width in the back seat compared with a Legnum in order to fit 3 kids seats (meaning you can transport 3 small kids and 2 adults).
