EVO master cylinder, maybe not the best idea?

    http://www.scirocco.org/faq/brakes/p...n/pfpage2.html

Have a read of that. The bigger the master cylinder the more force you need to create the same amount of pressure in the lines, but a smaller one may not have enough fluid in it to fully work the brakes, and the larger brembo calipers do require more fluid

Based on that, I'm guessing if you had near new rotors and pads there would be no need at all to go to the bigger master cylinder.

    that's interesting,

but i would rather have a big right leg than get to the point where put my foot on the brakes and it hit the floor before the pads hint the disk (i know a bit OTT with the escription) but you get the idea.

    Bye for Now!

well thats the next obvious thing, when your foot is hard on the brakes, how far has the piston in the master cylinder travelled and how far away is it from 'bottoming out' or reaching the end of it's effective travel

i mentioned this last year after fitting a 9 master cyl to the v6, the evo cyl is only slightly bigger than the vr4 one so it does make the pedal a bit firmer but the increase in feel is vastly improved which is one thing the standard brakes don't have

Pretty much nail on head. You can lock the standard brakes, so the ultimate limi is your tyres, not your brakes. However, a bigger graduation on foot effort to exert a given pressure will improve that indefinable quality, 'feel'.

Given the source, it's worth mentioning that stock VR brakes are like hitting a brick wall compared to a stock Scirocco. Former Don Throbbe recommends a 22mm late Mk2 16v Goof GTi m/c and the 256mm front brake setup from the sportier Audi 80's, braided hoses.

Use of a Scirocco.org link also gives me a tenuous excuse to link to Ansons Twin engined 'rocco build thread. He is one of the leading tech contributors to Scirocco.org and appears to be at least seven different shades of crazy ape**** bonkers.

It was 1:00 in the AM when the car left the driveway for the first time; completely ****ing sideways.

You can't lock your standard brakes after a few laps around a track though

But thats nothing to do with brake force

    It's heat dissipation..

And i have never had brake fade on track with standard calipers and master cylinder...
