    LVVTA in Wellington

What are some good places to take a car for a low volume vehicle cert in Welly? Will need a cert for my new Brembo brakes. Was thinking that somebody who knows about our cars would be best.

Hey Jan, will this be the end of any mods to the car that require a cert? If so well then go get it but remember, if you should decide to go for, say coilovers latter on, back to get a cert you will need to go. And pay the $350+ all over again.

Here are details of the thresholds for requiring a recertification.

And here is a list of the accredited certifiers. Note though, the list is for the individuals but doesn't say who they work for. Not that useful a list.

Can't see myself getting coilovers. The car is too low as it is at stock height. Anyway brembos certainly require a cert. I did not think so previously and made some inquiries, but was misinformed, but anyway nevermind.

Would be interested to know what people's experiences are re. WOF's if they have Brembos fitted but no cert.

when i didnt have a cert, i had no issues at all,

coz they just bolt on and look factory.
most WOF guys woundnt even know,

only reason i did get a cert, was i got pulled over and a cop gave me a warning
    for my coil overs,
so all my stuff was certed at the same time.

    thats coz there independent testers,

most of them will hire a space or have an agreement with a garage to borrow there premises for testing/checking,

BTW a cert is around $350

and they check the WHOLE car, and is more stringent than your normal WOF....

you usually get one free recheck if your car fails, after that you have to pay the full amount again and start over!

From my understanding of the rules, you don't need a cert for the brakes if they use the factory mounts. If you need to change the mounts or modify them, then yes it would need a cert.

Also good to note rather than just winging it.. Its worth having the cert especially for when it comes time for insurance to pay out, they'll pick the nigly little bits that dont comply just to get out of paying a deal.. Always better to be safe than sorry..
