I'd imagine they'll fit, but bear in mind the weight difference between the 2.0 and the 2.5 V6 might mean him driving round looking at too much sky !

can anyone with a V6 with standard spring's mesure from the center of there wheel to the center of the wheel arch on both front and rear? i had thought about the weight diffrence but he say's the garage supplying them said
"it'll sit level as it's a full set of V6 spring's" but i'm not to sure? if anyone can help, tonight would be great as he has to have them replaced before saturday..

According to my old brochures, the ride height of the V6-24 and the GLS are the same. Ground clearance is quoted at 150mm from the bottom lip of the front bumper to the floor.
As has already been said, I think the problem may be the spring rates... The V6 is about 150-200 kilos heavier at the front.
And, now I've put my brain in gear :$...
If a full set of V6 springs are being fitted to a GLS, then the only difference re: spring rates will be a slightly firmer ride I think... The springs will be wound to take the weight of the V6, so they'll be slightly more resistant to compressing because the GLS engine and drivetrain will not load them as heavily...
I think?!?!?!! ozey: :shifty: :rolleyes5
This is well over my head, but surely the extra weight of a V6 is on the front wheels, so the rears will not be much different? So therefore the V6 springs on a GLS will offer a bigger change on the front than the rear?
KIERAN (to the rescue again) top man :cool1:
so-would you recon the full set fitted would help keep it sitting proper but maybe firmer?
:headsc: you may have a fair point......Originally Posted by Nick Mann

Gimme a moment to read and digest what I'm looking at......
 JESSSSSUSSSSSSS!!!!!! KIERAN.....
YOU CAN READ MIND'S AS WELL :scared1:
I don't call myself the GOD of GLS Power for nothing :lolz:
Was pretty freaky though!!!
Anyway, I'll have some sort of answer in a moment...
Ian, is your friend's GLS a manual or an automatic?
it's a manual.
Here's the information I have.
Looking at the service manuals, it seems that the suspension didn't change much throughout the Galant's life, even with the introduction of the Sport models, etc. The only differences are the 2000cc M/T, which has a slightly different spring height. The rears seem the same accross all models.
The only other thing to watch for is if the car has been fitted with high ground clearance suspension, or self-levelling suspension.
All measurements are in mm, and are laid out as follows:
Wire Diameter X Average Diameter X Free Length
Fronts:
All models appear to of the same design and construction, with minor changes in spring diameter, as seen below.
Saloon
2000cc with Manual transmission: 12 x 70-110 x 366
All other saloons, inc. 2000cc with Auto: 12 x 70-110 x 374
Estate
2000cc with either transmission: 12 x 70-110 x 366
All other versions: 12 x 70-110 x 374
Rears:
The coils at the rear did change if the car had self-levelling or high clearance suspension fitted, but I doubt you'll have to worry about this.
Saloon
Standard:9 x 62-102 x 397
Heavy duty: 9 x 94-102 x 330
Self-Leveling: 9-10 x 63-103 x 386
Estate
Standard: 9-10 x 63-103 x 405
Heavy duty: 10 x 95-103 x 321
Self-Leveling: 10-11 x 64-104 x 383
(All models appear to of the same design and construction, with minor changes in spring diameter, as seen below.)
Saloon
2000cc with Manual transmission: 12 x 70-110 x 366
All other saloons, inc. 2000cc with Auto: 12 x 70-110 x 374
does this mean the V6 SPRING'S ARE 8mm LONGER? or is this just all the 2000cc model's
That would appear to be the case, yes
not much in it !! i wonder if you would notice the diffrence or not?
what do you think should i tell him to get them or not? :headsc:
As far as I can tell, the only difference is the 8mm length. Not really enough to worry about.
Put it this way, if it were me, i'd have a go with them and see what happened.
:thumb1: thank's for all the info kieran :thumb1:
i think i would just go ahead aswell, and it's not as though he care's to much for his galant it's just a work-horse to him.in saying that! it's a good advert as it's done over 185,000 mile's,he dosn't service it he only change's the oil every once an a while..
it failed it's mot with 2 broken spring's and he need's it legal for the weekend ,hence the new spring's,and the only one's he can get before next week are V6 item's.
thank's again......
