Question "Woooo" noise from 1,700rpm to 1,900rpm

Weird looking title - i know. But i've got a question.
I've noticed, when driving and the car is in "D", as the gears progress through from 1st gear up until 3rd or 4th, i can sometimes hear a really slight "wooo" noise coming from somewhere. I'm not sure if it's the tyres, the driveshaft, or the transmission etc.? It's a very faint sound, and you can't really notice it unless you try and hear it. It's similar to the sound of someone blowing ontop of a beer bottle. You get what i mean?
And i can sometimes feel a slight vibration (very very slight vibration, hardly noticeable) through the accelerator pedal while this noise happens. It only lasts a few moments as it progresses through 1,700rpm until 1,900rpm and anywhere after that, it's non existant.
Has anyone else experienced this before? Any ideas? I just want to know of your experiences or ideas so i can start saving incase something goes BOOM

    It's like a wOooo... then it's gone

I know the noise you are describing, I always think it's a distant police siren! Don't know about the vibration in the accelerator pedal though???

I have no idea what the source of the noise is, but I suspect it is something to do with the automatic transmission.

Yes, that's what i thought as well. And the sound isn't the hiss that the turbo's make, it's more of a low wooooo noise - almost the same as when someone blows ontop of a bottle.

There was a discussion about it some time ago (over a year I guess) on the forums, you might be able to find it with the search.

I couldn't tell you exactly the physics behind it, but I suspect the load change (it happens with throttle variation) causes the compressor wheel speed to reach some magical speed range at which it whistles.

It IS the turbos though. Even if you still can't see how, just trust me

As already said, it's your turbos - Especially when Ariadne is cold, the Turbos have always 'Wooooooed' even when not on boost.
