    Mpg

    moaning all

just a thought here, but what do peeps get on avrage on MPG?

toped up the almost bottomless tank over the weekend an did a bith of maths.
turns out that 334miles (1/2 being town an 1/2 being motorway) at fuel being around 1.06.9 with roughly 53liters, workes out to be 30.14MPG.

i take it this is good for one of the N/A glants.

im hoping to get more outta this next tank to see jsut how many MPG i can push for, now taking in to mind i no longer have air con as the other half split the high pressure pipe.
soon to be fixed... i hope.

ah good stuff so light footness is a must then....
not that im tight or anything

taking that 30 to 35 is a mix of mixed driving, town driving an pure motorway.

    god spot the noob!

ah yeah good point, it is deffo a manual, i cant seem to be trusted in autos as i have a tendency to kill them,.....

Yeah, 30mpg is good going out of a manual V6, especially if you're tootling around town.

Try Shell V-power a couple of times; you might get 1 or 2 mpg more.

anywhere between 20 -31 on a mixed tank, anywhere up to 39 on the motorway driving like a saint, or if you give it some hammer then single figures is very easy.

I recently took a long drive from Chesterfield to Exeter and back, and it included an hour of crawling along the M6 on the way back and trips to the supermarket within Exeter. I didn't dawdle on the motorways, and overtook a lot of cars and lorries. Over the 613 miles I averaged 41.46MPG which I think is pretty good for a big car. Usually around town I average 27mpg.

Seriously Brad you're about 5 MPG out. Nobody in the UK seems capable of the MPG figures you keep quoting!

Our Legnum VR-4 does a fairly consistent 24.8MPG around town.

its the main pipe, the very long one... yeah i know helpfull
think the other half said it was the main high pressure one, i will ask again tomorrow.

well from topping up, an the needle over the full mark to just tiltering off the bottom end of the full mark, iv got 80miles outta it so far.... seems to be going okies.
are these tanks the buggers that seem to take forever to fall the first half but once past there they drop like grannies in the winter?

Yes, between the 3/4 full to 1/4 the fuel gauge drops quite quickly. Oddly enough, the halfway point seems accurate. On mine when it gets to the bottom line on the fuel gauge there is still about 12 litres left in.

as someone quite correctly said to me on safespeeds forum, you arent buying a v6 for economy lol
With a damaged head the most i managed from my 2.0 was around 40mpg and i know how to squeeze a few more miles out of a tank. When it was healthy i could get to stirling from southampton (around 500 miles) on 3/4 of a tank. If you want better fuel economy the best thing to do is learn how to drive economically including both driving and the car itself

i was nagged into buying the car....
but im gald i gave in (1 to shut him up! an 2, needed a car i could relay on)
as its such a nice drive, so powerful, this is the time im calling "playtime" were as i get to know the car an what its limits are. this could take a while, but i would like to know so im not left with any nasty susprises.

well the other half has taken it to london today see how it goes

oh on pure town driving on 30-ish liters (£33) i got about 29mpg.

see how this lot goes as so far is been more motorway then town.

at least you have a bit of sense. I am going from a gls to a v6 after 3 years of ownership. Even though the car is the same i will be starting from scratch with learning what it can do. Bigger alloys will mean better handling anyway but i will use tried and tested methods to find the limits ie a road i know very well and push it a little bit more each time. Im expecting to take 6 months to really know the car. Hopefully starting tomorrow night if all goes well

its a deffo must do, old quite back road thats good for things like that
well so far the only damage i seem to be doing is wheel spining,
im on 15s atm wanting the 17 sports ones, but the thing is the cost of rubber thats putting me off, an the speedbumps we got,
all things will come in time, just have to wait.

got an update on the fule, sofar 300miles to just under 3/4 of a tank
at this rate its deffo gonna beat the 334 we had a couple of weeks back!
