i wont patronise you by going on about roof racks and not carrying things you dont need etc but you will save fuel by driving properly. Get to know what your car can do. If you dont need to slow down as much you dont need to get back up to speed. Accelerating is expensive. So is changing gear so do it less. The 2 litre will accelerate from 30mph in 5th gear. It wont pin you in the seat but its cheaper than changing down to 3rd. This is assuming you are not in a 30 limit though. 5th is no good for urban driving. Motorway driving is cheap but it can be cheaper. Forget cruise control. Going uphill you can ease off and let gravity slow you down (60 is acceptable) then let gravity bring you back up to speed again going downhill. Base on a test i did in a truck with an auto box i saved a lot of fuel by doing this. The cruise control tries to maintain speed by chucking lots of fuel into the engine. Dont use it on hills

On a couple of occasions, I eked more than 400 miles out of the V6 - mostly motorway driving - but pretty good at around 35mpg. I usually averaged 22-26mpg though on the commute!

I just filled up the Galant (um, full exhaust, intercooler and increased boost) and recorded 25mpg on the dot.

The Galant has never been driven economically, though the trip to and from Brad's may have been ok. I would say 50/50 thrashing / normal driving. That tank served as our "test drive" out in the back roads.

The sickening part of that figure is that it is better than what the Legnum (100% standard) returns.

I wonder if the cusco twin plate clutch helps... Supposed to be light weight.

we did trash it a bit that day, but remember it weights approx 50kg less than the Legnum, and has a longer 1st, 2nd, and 5th gear.

I can't wait to do a long run in my car once we get the longer 5th in it and see what difference it makes for fuel consumption

Don't forget some of these posts refer to N/A V6's. Just for the record though, my weird and wonderful beast averaged 27mpg over a 1008 mile trip to a little place in Germany and back. That icluded driving very fast round and round in circles out there

Just thought I'd share some fuel consumption experience now that I'm driving manually...

This one was last week and I managed to get to 260 miles and the gauge was just under a quarter when I filled up.

Next pic is a 'work in progress' shot of me trying my best to reach a milestone...

Next pic, I've hit the best I've managed...

Over 300 miles on a full tank and no fuel warning light.

The best I managed when my car was auto was 293 and that was some 20miles with the fuel warning light shouting at me!

I got about to 300 miles / tank on my trip to Poland last year. Motorway only with 100 octane V-power only.

Normal city / motorway / and a bit of heavy foot on occassions and I get between 150 - 170 miles when the warning light comes on.

That's about right for a V6 on the town run.

Forgot to mention on my earlier post in this thread, that I managed 501 miles from the V6 once - and filled up with about 61 litres, and had averaged about 37mpg!

Funnily enough, about five years ago, I also managed to get 501 miles between fill-ups from my Lupo. Although that was from just 28.5 litres of diesel! So a mere 79.8 mpg! Was only a 34 litre tank though...
