    AYC error code help

I have these three AYC codes

51 G sensor system (broken wire or short circuit) approximately 27− 21

56 side G sensor system (broken wire or short) 27− 21

65 ABS monitor system (broken wire or ABS breakdown) 27− 23

can anyone point me to the AYC manuals or onfo on how to locate and find the G sensors or check wiring.

just got these codes out of the blue. tried to reset ECU by disconnecting batt for 20 mins, and codes still there. im disconnecting batt overnight now...

    Any help greatly appreciated

alll of those parts are not part of the AYC system , they are the ABS system

The abs system takes it's feed for G from the ABS ones , so I would check out to see if yours is working

thecodes came from the AYC section of the error codes thread on this forum.
it is the AYC light flashing.
From my reading the AYC does use the G sensors (both lateral and longitudinal)

    Im more confused now...

Yes the AYC does use G sensors , but it is using the ones for the ABS system

    so as i posted above

The abs system takes it's feed for G from the ABS ones , so I would check out to see if yours is working

I don't think that's correct John. The ABS system certainly doesn't use G sensors. For example, the UK spec cars don't have the G sensors like the VR4 does and they have ABS too.

Eddy - the G sensors are located under the centre console, just near the handbrake assembly - You'll have to remove the centre drinks holder and possibly the whole lot to get at them. Could just be a loose plug.

    John, do you mean this?

The abs system takes it's feed for G from the ABS ones , so I would check out to see if yours is working

Or should one of those say AYC?

I found this on ozvr4, which should help me a lot. its for an EVO, but id say its very similar to ours, bar the location of the AYC ECU.

    http://ozvr4.com/resources/workshop-...AYC_System.pdf

I have both the ABS and AYC lights on, but only the 3 AYC error codes, so yes it looks like the ABS and AYC are linked (certainly would be WRT wheel sensors)., but naturally im going to focus on my AYC error codes.

    A bloody fuse!
i determined it was a lack of power to the G sensors, started digging around under the dash, discovered the secondary fuse box, (i hav no owners manual) started checking fuses, and the ABS fuse was blown. replaced and all ok.

Very interesting set of codes for a blown ABS fuse, and the checking of fuses was not covered in the evo AYC diagnostic document linked above, but anyway, its a happy ending for me....

what you will probably find is that the G sensor does indeed run through the ABS ecu as does ayc outputs
The ABS ECU is like an engine ecu although externally they are the same the sensor inputs and outputs are/may be different.
Ie VR4 ABS pin 1 is right rear +
v6 GLS pin 1 is front left -
the hydraulics can be the same The electronics solve the rest
    No longer a VR4 owner
