    Transfer case same as...

Wandering around in ASA tonight I found that the EVO 4/5/6 transfer case is the same part number as ours Just thought some people might like to know.

Catalan, the EVO 4 and VR-4 rear diffs are 3.323, and the 5/6's are 3.308, but the transfer case is still the same.

The stuff in the front diff is also the same as evo 4-6 and lancer gsr

possible in new caps/asa mitsubishi made some changes, but in old caps, transfer case in evo 5-6 have different number,
evo 5/6 have MD410523 (MR498816) for model with lsd
and MR410524 with model without lsd.

vr-4 have MD748268 always, the same as evo 4 without lsd
, possible mmc is accamulate all practical stuff, and now possible to install one number on all cars, 'coz ppl was it offten without problem

Not sure about the Evo itself, but it's starting to look like Mitsubishi are keen to look in the catalogue when they need a part on the drawing board, rather than create new.

I know we've established the wheel hubs from the Eclipse fit, now we've got transfer case, and apparently the later Evos SAYC diff will fit?
Question is...how do we make C.DIFF fit? LOL (yes, I know, fit a 4G63T and gearbox...).

Is it worth having a single thread / article for cross-compatibility of parts?

Well our 3rd,4th,5th gears are shared with some models of 5 speed evo 4-9, obviously the transfer case, but few other things unfortunately.

Steve - didn't look that up last night! If you have ASA on your system it is just a matter of time wandering around and finding all the parts.

The front diff is the same. I assume the centre diff is in the transfer box, which Brad reckons is the same. The rear diff is the same.

Unless you mean the active centre diff? That would be more difficult I guess. I would imagine there would be propshaft difficulties and possible engine block clearance issues.

Where do I get ASA from? I assumed all you guys had payed huge amounts of money for it somewhere?

And yah, I mean active C.DIFF....for ridiculous cornering.
Would be interesting to see if it could be done...not that I can afford it LOL

I think the front diff is in the Transfer case - hence the LSD option on the Evo IV version. I looked at one a while back but was ££££. The cente diff is in the gearbox housing afaik?

    Correct

There seems to be some confusion with this, someone some years ago posted up that the front diff was in the gearbox and centre in the transfer case, however this was incorrect but the idea has sort of stayed around.

The transfer case houses the front diff and the viscous coupling.

As well as the big pair of gears that increase the speed of the output shaft from the gearbox to go down to the rear diff.
