    'Lights On' dash indicator light

The UK Galants - with the hi-vis dash - don't have that little light that comes on in the left hand corner of the instrument panel that shows when your headlights are on.

Can this be retro-wired on the UK models? If so is it easy and has anyone done it?

I see it's on the VR4 hi-vis dash - and also the same hi-vis dash the Galant Viento has. It seems to be the ones with the speedos marked km/h with the extra 'dots' on the dials between the 20, 30, 40 km/h have the 'lights on' icon, but not the UK models with a hi-vis dash, but without the extra 'dots'.

This would be a handy feature to have, although you can always check the small lights around the center arm rest are on.

I think when I looked (I bought a set of V6 clocks for my GLS), the bulb socket is there, but there's no printed track (mind you it'd be easy enough to take a feed from the fag lighter illumination or something like that). The big snag as I remember was that the transparency on the printed part isn't there on the UK ones, so you'd have to somehow make one.

Reckon a solution would be to get hi-vis VR4 dials? Would there be a hassle with my mileage reading and if it reads KM/H on the dials, would it still be in MPH if that is what my car is currently?

It used to wind me up too, but you get used to it.

If the bulb holder is there I reckon you could hack into the heating controls lighting??

    Maybe?

How about this - a manual VR4 cluster for sale on here.

If I was to get it, what would I need to do to get the 'lights on' light working? I'm guessing I'd have the bulb holder and the printed track - but then what about the feed wire going from the bulb holder to 'where' ? To connect it to.

As you can tell I'm a bit confused but keen to do it!

As above, really: you'll probably have to get your hands on an additional pin for connectors, and run a wire from there to the stereo loom (as there is an illumination signal in there) or just piggy back it on the light in the cigarette lighter. You may even find that you can connect it to the illumination wire in any of the switches on the right hand side.
