The 8G stands for 8th generation, and yes yours is an 8th generation.
Maybe they arn't standard badges then, but no problem getting them from Mitsy - or another version here at Funky Product: http://www.funkyproduct.co.uk/item.p...tTypeNumber=55

Thanks for the vote of confidence about the F1 GS-D3. In shopping around, I can get them for about NZ$260 each. The Toyos are about NZ$280.
I will get the Goodyears as they are good. My last car had Goodyears F1 too, though not GS-D3s.

We work to live, and to live is to drive a VR-4, around corners at speed. But it costs see here
BraindG saw my current tyres too, and he agreed they need to go. They have hundreds of short hairline cracks in the grooves in the tread.
Next Week, after Easter, the Goodyears go on.
Funny, it's not really your car until, you've put on a new set of tyres. Anyone else find that ?
Hope I'm not too late KiwiTT but since one of my previous posts I believe I've found a *better* tyre which I'm personally going to get (unless anyone has bad reports).Originally Posted by KiwiTT
It's still a Goodyear tyre - Eagle Ventura. According to the official independent tests it beats the Eagle F1 GS D3 by a fair margin AND seemingly wears better as well.
You may care to check it out if you haven't already purchased. ( I have the tech data comparisons if you want them)
BTW ....... congrats on your exalted status to the astral plains of the forum Gods

Thanks Physician:
I had a look at the Goodyear Eagle Venturas and I found out the following;
1) Not available in New Zealand
2) Only go up to 16"
Also, the Ventura is middle of the range.
The F-1 GS-D3 is the Top of the Performance Range. I don't think this will be a bad choice.
I'll do a review on them later.
Still haven't got them on yet. I showed those hairline cracks in my tread to a "car expert", a former car-dealer franchise general manager and a member family (i.e. no axe to grind, and objective), and he said not to worry about those. Only worry if they are in the sidewalls. This has caused me to delay my decision a bit further.
I have been reading a comparision between three performance cars "Ferrari 360 Stradale, Porsche 911 GT3, BMW M3 CSL" and it said that the reason that the GT3 can be so good, is the level of grip now available on new type of tyres.
As my tyres are over 5 years old in design, if not in actual age, it may pay to upgrade, if I want better grip.
Hmmmm ... decisions, decisions ... I've been here before. Sorry Guys. I will probably put them on in Late May/early June now.
Well I have finally booked to have them done next week.
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Are you getting the standard size fitted (205/55-16)? I looked at the tyre size calculator and I think I will get the 225/50-16 which is practically the same radius. Quoted around $250 each from a Goodyear dealer. Current ones (Dunlops?) getting a bit low...

I am getting 225/45 ZR17's for around $260 each. A bargain considering how well they perform in a half dozen independent tests, especially in the "WET" Auckland.
Blimey, for once your price isn't massively cheaper than here in the UK.
I will be getting some new F1's next month (225/45/17 too) and I am getting them supplied and fitted for £366 all in
I believe transporting them over 10,000 of more miles over sea has some additional cost. But I am glad you are getting some too!
I already had some mate, until they were removed today - cant praise them enough. Got my spares on now for a trackday coming up and then the new ones will be on
They are on now. Currently @ 32 PSI, which is a little low for me. However, they are quieter than my old ones.
Cost $NZ1040 including GST (Sales Tax) with Wheel Alignment.
Bring on the "Rain"
Boy did it rain last night. However, no worries here, I felt like the car was always in contact with the road.Originally Posted by KiwiTT
I can only say this ... if you are looking for a safe tyre in the WET, get these. And it almost half the price of competitors. i.e. Bridgestone S-03 PP, Pirelli P Zero's and Michellin Pilot Sports.
This is great timing. I have just bought a 2000 VR4. It is NZ new so has reasonable tyres but not performance tyres so they have to go.
I buy my tyres from Frank Allan Tyres in Albany so I will ask them for pricing on the Goodyears.
I have currently have 16" wheels but this will be changed at the same time I get new tyres for 17".
Keep us updated on the road testing of these new tyres.
Schnapper: I bought mine from Frank Allen Tyres too: albeit Grey Lynn
This weekend, I pushed them a little harder. And do they stick. Also, I see a huge wall of spray come out the back of the car when on wet roads. Awesome
Just looking at Goodyear GS-D3's for my next set. I'm convinced enough by everyone's excellent feedback to give them a go.Originally Posted by KiwiTT
I've got worn Yokohama AVS Sports on at the moment, but a new set & fitting of 4 235/40/18 of these is about £200 more expensive than the F1's, plus the Yokos have proved rather scary in the rain.....mind you, that's probably a combination of car + me. ozey:
s'Not fair! Everywhere I seem to look a set of 4 18's are about £150-200 more than 17s. That's an expensive extra inch I have....Originally Posted by spirit979

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 235/40/18/Z: £141.62 each (£596.12), + wheel balancing (£619.60), Free mobile fitting.
Anyone had any experience of these guys? I'm slightly wary about these kind of places, but very tempted by the price and convenience factors.
