The Quest for Singletrack is Endless...
Just been looking Moffat up and Mrs Forge is eger to get to that toffee shop.
It looks a nice little market town.
Like I say would be good to get away for the weekend and meet some of he Scottish contingent.
Fingers crossed
I know the road better than the town...Originally Posted by aboo
There's a wide High Street with lots of parking but it might be busy on a Saturday...
It features several landmarks, including this:
Roadrunner said he might do a recce, but we could default to High Noon at the Sheep in the absence of a better suggestion...
It's a pretty wee town with some good shops, not all selling toffee...Originally Posted by valleyforge1

I was always told by my Aberdonian mates that the act of sh@gging sheep was not a joking matter...so you won't get any jokes from me about it - what you guys do behind your own barn doors is entirely up to you!!!
you'll be bringing your own then?Originally Posted by aboo
at the moment I dont know if i'll make it.... nothing to do with sheep!
BMW E60 525i (3.0) M-Sport.
Well up to now it stands that we will be setting off early on saturday and stopping for breakfast on the way up.
Will hit Moffat and take the meet from their as to what you guys organize.
Will set off back to Carlisle, on saturday late or when we all decide we have had enough and stay over their for the night.
Depending on weather, will probably drop down threw the lakes on sunday and then head for home from their.
Sounds like a plans coming together.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Should be fun.
I'm just wandering how Moffat's going to react when we all turn up if all make it

Still all go here and marked on the calender as a "Internaional meet".
Checking out places to stay in Carlisle.
Doh would you adam and eve theres a problem with the car.
Power steering pump. Have to get that fixed.
Had a run down to Moffat this morning. We have a couple of options:
If there will be a lot of us, probably best to meet in the car park on the A701 on the south side of Moffat, about 50 metres south of the Esso station (Supreme SUL sold here ) - near The Glebe if you look at a map. There are 100+ parking spaces. The High Street, on the other hand, had very few spaces even at 11am on a Sunday, so Saturdays might be even busier.
There are a couple of decent hotels doing food:
Moffat House Hotel at the top end of the High Street, opposite the Texaco station (also selling SUL): menu looks good and reasonably-priced, got its own car park although that's covered in red chippings, max one step up into hotel or restaurant from the car park.
Balmoral Hotel looks OK. Opposite side of the road from the Moffat House Hotel and further down, just up from the Moffat Weavers Tweed Shop and the Moffat Toffee Shop. Similar menu, reasonable prices, max one step up into the hotel, ramp access to the restaurant. No car park so need to park on the street.
Cheers,
Brian
