Anyone live near West Yorkshire?

Would anyone on this forum who knows a thing or two about Legnums be interested in giving a facelift model at Keighleys the once over for me?
At the moment I am so busy that I just can't get to look at this car, I have made an offer over the phone but living on the South Coast means a full day away is something I cannot afford to do at the moment. So if anyone lives near there (I would not want anyone to put themselves out on my accont) I thought maybe they could check it out for me according to the guy I phoned it has no marks, dents or scratches and the interior is perfect, it does not rattle when cold and the cambelt was done in Japan. But you know salesman and if I travel all the way to see it and find out someones been telling porkies I might go ape.

Its a pity because the white facelift manual they have just fits the bill, plus they agreed a price of £3800 on a credit card too

Looks like there is a dent on the o/s rear door in pics 5+6 were the strip goes !!
and a scrape on the front bumper in same pics!

Well spotted, it looks like a fairly large dent on picture 6 near the hinged part of the door. Having read some of the comments about the dealer and the fact that these cars can bite you in the but if not well cared for I'll not bother, it will serve as a lesson to them. I did spot another one in silver at a Rover dealership and they gave me the name and number of the guy who owned it and he had certainly kept it up together the trouble is I have phoned and made an offer but the e-mail I sent was never answered fair enough I only offered
£3k cash but hey are they going to sell it that quickly and I'm a straight cash buyer

That car has been sat there for 12 months I would say....went to look at it myself....as I recall needed boost pack on it to start and certainly wasn't perfect bodywork....qute a few discolourations dents and general untidyness

I'm a painter by trade and most of the car there HAD been painted or Touched up

Can't remember exactly why but I walked away

Thanks for all your input, I have also been considering the Nissan Stagea and I am going to try out a Series 2 model this weekend (T reg.). As the Rover garage won't budge from £3600 asking price for the silver 1996 Legnum they have despite no PX and a cash purchase the dealer with the Stagea is prepared to do a deal so who knows.

There is a red manual for sale at WRC has anyone been to look at this one yet? if so could you let me know if there are any dents/dinks/paintwork issues I also noticed a big double din hole so I guess no stereo any comments would be most welcome (the Stagea did not suit my requirements)

I looked while i was there buying the white on

It has a few scrapes on the nose cone, nothing major
paint work wasnt faded, and looked rather tidy
It does have pretty high millage on it (relatively)
I suspect they will put the double in it from mine, as I asked for it to be removed....hate jap double dins, cant understand a word on the display and they never tune radio correct

I only dismissed it as facelift won over manual

Its worth a look imho

My 2xsingle DIN the stereo it came with it only picks up on FM from 78.000 - 84.000 so i can't get many radio stations at all!

Thanks Evilscoop I would prefer a facelift model but they are a bit thin on the ground in manual I must also have the roofbars as retro-fitting them is sure to ruin something

david i looked at that car 8 months ago and its dogrough mate. all the good cars at keighley are indoors. take your time and find a good one . stan
