Panels resprayed

Ok so after my little ball joint adventure I'm in need of a a guard to be re-painted and I'll probably do the bumper too. My question is would you expect the paint to be an exact match or not seeing as the other panels would be slightly faded.

I got my two bumpers and rear quarter done recently. The guy i used is sh1t hot and the colour matched perfect. The only thing is in the sun the bumpers look too shiny and new compared to the rest so i dont plolish or wax them anymore so it matches perfect. penel beaters are trained to take into account the age of the car and the way paint fades over time. If you want get them to machine polish the car too and will realy give your paint a new life, im big into detailing my bus but i could never make the paint as vibrant and deep until i got the machine polish/buff. well worth it, should only cost around 100 pound.

ok I thought maybe I was expecting too much but thats good to hear. Now the hunt for a good panel beater begins, I dont suppose anyone knows one around Hamilton? Unfortunately I only know some bad ones!

If so any bodyshop worth their salt should get the colour match absolutely spot on.

The paint should not have 'faded' at all as it is clearcoated.

If they don't get the match spot on send it back until they do.

I had the rear quarters on my Pyrenees Black V6 re-sprayed, and thought it looked fine in the normal daylight until Don (AncientOfMu) pointed out under flood lights that the black colour was well out.

I took it back to the bodyshop and after tests by the ICI representative, he confirmed the shade was well out. It's back there now being re-sprayed in the proper colour. The bodyshop 'guessed' at the black and didn't use the exact shade.

took me and some paint people over an hour to decided on a match for my bumper in the sunlight and in the shade, got there eventually

problem is that in NZ (and i am not being racist or anything here - just stating facts so dont hurt me!) alot of panelbeaters/painters are not actually qualified. they are fresh of the boat and think just because the popped a dent out of there uncles truck back in india they are panelbeaters. I have seen some seriously disgusting panel and paint work in my time!

so yeah it is hard to find someone decent

I have a friend in the UK who works for a company called "The Paintbox". Based in colchester they specialise in VW restoration but have over the years expanded, they paint and build anything from band equipement to design works from the London College of Art and design, and a lot of the designs are of some very strange looking cars...... Anyway they match any colour from any one, I believe they primarily use House of Color paint......... They are extemely experienced but very very very expensive........... Good work comes at a high price..........

Ok well I had the guard painted and all seemed well again...... until a bit of driving on the open road revealed the guard that was repaired is rubbing on the tyre when I hit bumps! Its not REALLY bad so I figure I can just roll the inner lip, but no. The guard had bog around the edge and it all cracked and I've got an ugly guard again
Now would the panelbeaters that repaired the guard be at fault at all since it only rubbed after they had apparently fixed it? I mean I only had to try rolling it because it wasnt repaired to the state it was beforehand and the other side didnt rub at all.
