    which pod filter?

hi I'm about to start my next project which is to replace the standard air box with a hks/blitz filter enclosed in a polished stainless air box which will connect to the standard ram air part of the system which is on the car at the moment just want ideas on which filter to get? pod/cone?, Foam/gauze?.

Of course i will keep the standard setup in case i notice a decrease in power!

Im not sure that an enclosed box will really help to much? Either way when i put a cone filter on mine even with the air scoop left in place pointing right at it. the car ran like poo, serious loss in torque.

Any reason for wanting to do it? After my attempt ill be investing in a decent panel filter.

    my 2p.

It will most likely mess up the shape of the air and cause you problems.

You could move the MAF and the back half of the airbox to where the battery is, then have a foam panel filter attached to it in a sealed box. That would result in gains.

so move the battery to the boot and move the filter over?

    dont waste your time,

a high performance replacemnt panel filter in the stock airbox will be better than a pod filter.

its dyno proven, YOU WILL LOSE POWER WITH A POD FILTER,

buy a god replacement panel, ralli-art, HKS, K&N etc etc.

I have a pipercross viper in mine that i previously had fitted to my cossie and i really like it. There was certainly no power drop and it looks good/sounds way better. I kept the original air scoop too. There's pics on here somewhere.

Alternatively, a run of pipe between the MAF and pod filter will usually stabilise the airflow making the MAF read correctly. Then it's just the temperature of the air going in: as you're already running some pipe, why not relocate the inlet somewhere else?

And once you've been to all this trouble, you'll have no gains over a decent panel filter

That said, if you're going down the heavy modification route, then the standard induction will start to reach it's limits fairly quickly.
