    Tyre Wear

Has anybody come across his on a Galant 2.0L Sport.
I have noticed un even wear on my front tyres. The outside edge is wearing on both tyres noticibly more than the inner edge. I have had the tracking checked as I thought that the wheels were toeing in but the garage say that it is fine. The car is lowered by 30mm. Has anybody any ideas ?

What sort of mileage have the tyres got?

And how hard would you be cornering?

Tyres have only done 3700 miles , cornering not that hard.

Something's a bit odd. I would have thought lowering would increase INNER edge wear.

Do you think I should get the alignment checked somewhere else ?

It's a bit of a pig, but it sounds like it could be worth getting a second opinion. Make sure they are using the correct alignment specs.

Could be worth getting an MoT tester to have a look on the ramps to see if there are any suspension problems, worn bushes, etc.

Yes - get it checked somewhere reputable and explain what the issue is. Ask them for the before and after toe settings and ask them to explain why they have made the change and how it would help.

Also, what size tyre are you running and at what pressure? IIRC the Sport alloys have 215/45/17 tyres and they seemed to work best at about 34 psi.

I found that down at 30-32 I would wear the outer edges from enthusiastic cornering. I only ever wore the inners from toe out tracking.

    Thumbs up

Thanks for the advice. Went to another garage to check alignment and it was a mile out , both toeing in, so much for the well known retailer who said there was nothing wrong with it.

OT but I've found anything close to what Mitsubishi recommend as the PSI is far too low, I keep mine between 34-36 PSI. XL-load F1s help too.
