Uprated Intercooler Kits

Yeah we have one on marks drag car (6A13). He has the really big nasty 1000bhp one! The trouble is bleeding it- its a absolute PITA.

Charge temp holds steady about 5 to 10 above ambient even on repeated hard pulls when its bled properly. When it isnt- its hopeless! By using refrigerated coolant you can go greater than 100% efficiency, (ie cool below ambient) but practically speaking you just couldnt bleed it well enough before it started to heat up on its own!

So for day to day use it would be a pain? The idea of a system that works at its peak even at low speeds means the engine will run better period. I have looked around and there is a site (www.frozenboost.com) that has systems for fairly low prices. If an better intercooler is giving people better milage by up to 1l/100k it will also pay its self off. Add to that re routing the boost lines much shorter and it has some interesting benefits. It seems to be more a case of is the system day to day reliable?
