Well, I have not been on here much recently ... mainly because we are really busy at work at the moment and it is very stressful. But another (smaller) reason is that I have been busy fiddling with the Ka again.
Started it up on Thursday morning last week and noticed that the exhaust was blowing slightly from just behind the flexi section. That went from a slight blow to the exhaust breaking in half behind the flexi on Saturday morning and a new exhaust was needed.
Went for a pucker exhaust system from local Ford dealer, was £124 with a small discount. Still cheaper that the cost of a cheapo system fitted by Humphries or Kwik Fit*.
* - well, until I had to pay them £30 to undo the two rusted nuts where the exhaust joins the downpipe as I didn't want to risk breaking the studs and I have not got a heatgun! Grr
Anyway, got the new exhaust fitted on Monday (took the day off work) but noticed whilst the exhaust was off just how bad the corrosion was underneath now. I knew it was not great as there were two advisories on the MOT last year for corrosion underneath but I had not got around to do anything about it yet.
So, rang a local mobile welding blokey and he is coming out on Saturday morning to weld it up. He's had a look already and to sort the two bits out is going to be around £140-£150.
So, that's £300 the poxy thing is going to cost us this week ... add that to the £500 odd we have already spent on it this year for the suspension bits and the £300 we spent last year getting the sills done and it's starting to become a little money pit
