    Exclamation WTB: SAYC rear diff!!

My stock AYC decided to drop its guts all over the road at 2am one morning, so ANYONE with an S-AYC diff please let me know as I definatly do not want to go normal AYC again because they simply just cant handle the power. I know its going to be expensive but any help would be much appreciated. I have been ringing around trying to find one from Wreckers, Evoparts, Repco and Mitsubishi Parts but no luck.

Erm, how much power are we talking about here? Brad has 228kW going through to the ground on his and his normal AYC diff never failed.

It didn't fail in my car, but it was only in the car for 6000km with that much power, and I never launched it.

I now have an S-AYC as we all know.

Smokekey- Sorry man have decided to go the upgraded route. your diff was just going to be a bridge until i could afford a S-AYC, Sorry man

Brad- yeah im after alot of power (in the long run of course) but like you i would like a S-AYC for security as i do take it onto the drag strip and onto the race circuit. as expensive as it is i know its going to last, where as factory replacement is just going to be a waste of money and time.

    Is the SAYC stronger...?

I thought it just worked 'differently' to transfer more power...?

And many UK Evos with LOTS more power are running ok AFAIK (from visits to MLR) with AYC...

Yes - fewer, bigger teeth on the gears.

Chris, I think it's the 'give' in the diff that's the problem, so under severe stress, the diff pulls apart slightly and the teeth are not quite making full contact with each other, thus meaning the same power is going through a smaller contact surface area, potentially leading to shredded teeth! I imagine that on a lighter car like the Evo, the diff doesn't 'give' as much as a heavy VR-4, due to having less dead weight to get moving.

Inertia is the enemy! Which can also be said about me!

    Lots of advantages...

did not realise that it was stronger...

but knew there were reasons why SAYC diff fitted to my car.
