    Smile VR4 Information

    Hi people! /

New here and trying to get some info on the VR4. At present I live in China but will be moving to the philippines next month. There are lots of VR4's and what they call VR6's . I like the look of these cars and I am desperate to get some info on the performance figures/road test's etc for the VR4 (standard) I suppose the "VR6" is the 3 litre.

Any info would be great. Also what particular things should I look for when buying these cars?

    I thank you in advance

    Michael

Have I missed something or has everyone just brushed past this 'VR6'? Only VR6 I know of is the Golf and Corrado VR6s. Was there a Galant VR6 or something and what is that?

And welcome to the forums Michael.

Well I just took Michaels assumption of them referring to the 3.0 V6 as a VR6.

Perhaps they do?? Or course its not a VR in the true sense as its just a 3.0 N/A V6.

    Certainly no match for a VR4 !

We all assumed something! For me, it was that the 3.0 V6 is the same as the one the Americans got...

Well VR6 wouldnt make sense would it, Viscous Realtime 6 wheel drive

Now as far as I know the only 3.0 V6s were in the USDM Galants, which seems to be just US only, as I know that Brazillian Galants are actually EUDM cars, I know that the US and Brazil are different countries, but to me it would make sense to import USDM cars not EUDM Galants.

Phillipines, I do think got EUDM cars but no VR4s unless imported, because as far as we know the VR4 only came in RHD, whilst there are lhd ones out there that have been converted.

Now what I am gathering from the post is that maybe the o/p thinks, that the VR4 Galant, shared the VR4 GTO engine which is the 3.0V6, which could be a very understandable mistake to make with a language barrier of sorts, GTO and Galant sharing the VR4 name, yet one VR4 is 2.5V6 TT and the other is a 3.0V6 TT

So what are VR-G and VR-M?

Do you not think that Victory Road makes a lot more sense?
    And welcome Michael!

Exactly! Victory Road all the way...

    VR-4 : 4-wheel drive
    VR-G : GDI engine
    VR-M : MiVEC engine

    ... is my understanding!

If they are in fact badged as a VR-6 then I would imagine they are 6A13 JDM or 6G72 USDM cars. They are most likely badged as V6-24 or VR-G though.

    Ref VR4 Info

Thanks for the replies so far guys, the info has proved useful. I would still like to get the standard performance figures. All the usual stuff. I am off to the Philippines tomorrow for a week and I will spend alot of time looking at these cars. They really are quite popular there. As to the quesstion of the "VR6" it has the same body as the VR4. I will post links to the Philippine car trader site so you can check for yourself. This is going to be an interesting exercise as I wil photograph the potential cars and feed back to you how it is going.

This may be the first case of someone buying a car with a viewing panel on the other side of the world!! Ha! Ha!

    Thanks again

    Michael
