MMCS TV Tuner - is it always powered on?

Does anyone know if the TV tuner is always powered on or does it only receive power and switch on when it's actually selected on the head unit?

I'm using it as a video input and want to tap some power to only switch on a device when the tuner is selected. I don't want constant power if not in use.

    Cheers.

Hmmm. According to those pinouts, I'm thinking connector 3 might have been intended for an optional video player control that comes on when you press VTR. I'll have to whack the multimeter onto it tonight.

Glad you like my thinking Brad. Because as suspected the unused connector #3 on the MMCS TV Tuner provides 12v power ONLY when TV is selected on the head unit.

However you don't have to specifically be in VTR mode, if you are in (the useless) broadcast TV mode power is still provided.

So when you switch back to any other input, such as CD for example, the tuner module stops providing power via connector #3.
