hi all , need your help , my mate vr4 broke down last week , so i went to tow him in and when you start the car it just wont idle you have to hold the thottle hard down then the revs go up and down on there own making it undriveable , was told it would be the air flow meter so changed it ,,, no good although it seemed to run a bit better when it was unpluged bit still not driveable .. anyone got any ideas ,,,,, cheers dave

I would check for a hose off somewhere first. How did you tow it as your not supposed to tow VR4 due to the 4 wheel drive,

hi all , we didnt have to tow it as when i unpluged the air flow meter is was just about driveable , have checked all air pipes , still no good , as i said it runs better without the air flow pluged in , hold it at 3/4 thottle and the revs just go up and down , anyone want to buy it ? r plate legnum vr4 estate in white ,,,

Still sounds like a hose off, or other air leak to me. Check ALL the pipes, giving them a good wiggle. The intake elbow can come off and reseat itself, so that it looks okay, but then still leaks under pressure!

Also check the dumpvalve hoses underneath, and those going to the intercooler.
