I'd go for the S-Type, knock him down a few quid, and get some cheaper leatherette for the engine. It'll look just fine.

dont do it look about and u will find that it is nearly impossible to get rid of jags, people dont want gas guzzlers anymore. we are lucky that there is people who still have interest in our cars, like evos and hate to say it the low end of the scale subaru. u will regret it. if u want another car what will sell a bit easier. hate to say it things like fords, vws, audi

Chaps, whilst I love my Legnum, I've just sold my 1999 Jaguar S-Type 4 litre V8. It was approaching 190k, I'd had it for 9 years, and fancied a change. I previously had a Nissan 300ZX, so was tempted to get another one, but the space of an estate car seemed more appealing. Despite its mileage I got £1600 for it. Most people commenting on them have probably never driven one, but compared with the Legnum, the driving experience is far more rewarding, giving rapid progress across country in both silence and luxury, coupled (which I was quite shocked by) with better economy (32.5 mpg being my best) and with the rear seats folded either up or down, a better load area, and no rattles!

I'd never buy the V6, but if an S-Type is what you fancy, get the V8, and all those who have have never driven one, try one, you may be tempted, even better go for the supercharged version.
