    Having issues - again.

Middle part of last week I got the engine light on whilst driving. Investigated at the weekend and it is flashing 22 on the ABS light (Crank angle sensor) and 12 on the engine light (Air flow sensor).

Investigated all wiring and can't anything amiss so thought I would ask you lot if you have any ideas.

Surely these two items could not have failed at the same time ?

Must be a broken wire or a fault that is somehow common to these two sensors.

All help most appreciated as usual.

From this thread I'd suggest that the code 22 flashed by your ABS light is your front left wheel sensor.

So just an issue with the MAF? Have you got a piggy back?

Aha, left wheel was removed last week to fit the lower arm. I'll check that out in the morning.

Yes Nick, I have EMU, fitted, but not mapped.

    So a couple of theories:

The arm changing caused a momentary blip of the speed sensor. I would guess that a permanent breakage would lead to a red AYC light if not an ABS light.

The EMU is spliced into the air frequency signal and maybe had a blip or dodgy reading potentially due to the EMU or wiring to/from it.

Thanks Nick, But, I've disconnected the battery twice, both times overnight for at least 12 hours and the error has immediately re-registered exactly the same.

Maybe the fault is not clearing with a battery disconnect? I'm not sure how the different ECU's do things, but I guess it is possible that later ECU's store diagnostic stuff on a writeable section. It would make sense! Is your EMU on a loom adapter or is it spliced in directly? If it's easy to remove, I'd start there and see if the engine light behaves itself.

Hmm, it's spliced in. Tinned, crimped and soldered connections, heat shrink on each individual wire and been like it since I blew the original engine. Don't fancy removing that lot.

Really appreciate the input though Nick.

I think you have a short in there somewhere, I'm afraid: something is either going open circuit or dropping to earth.

Do you have EvoScan available to look at the sensor logs on a drive? Might be quite revealing.

Yes Steve, I have Evoscan but haven't got it working yet, been too busy with other things. Seems like a good idea though. I'll try to get it running.
