Code 54 Won't Start

Hi guys

Any ideas on the following really appreciated.

1999 Galant GLS Auto 2.0

Just died. Went to bed. Tried to start in the morning--Engine light came on and Ive had it checked--

Its a Code 54 which is something in either the ECU/the wiring/or the immobiliser I think.

The starting system ries to turn the engine over but then it just cuts out.

My mechaninc says hes goint o have check all the wiring/fuses etc--Just wondered does anyone have experience of a code 54.

A quick look up brings this:

54 Immobiliser control module to engine control module malfunction (comes on if you have changed one or the other and not had them programmed in by Mitsi)

yup as wodj said, this fault took a month to sort when i did the transplant, have you changed anything on the ignition system? have you had a new key cut?
